Study Sheet for Test 2, November 16, 2017

There will be 4 parts to this test. You may bring and use your notes and primary documents for
the test. Please bring a green book or blue book for the test. If you have enough room in the
booket you used for the first test, you may use it. (Turn it upside down and begin in the back.)
Please use blue or black pen.

Part 1. (30 pts) Multiple choice questions.

Part 2. (20 points) Identifications. Be able to identify 2-3 persons or things in a paragraph Out

Part 3. (40 points) Essay. Do one. Compose a coherent essay which incorporates specific
and sufficient evidence (including primary sources). An essay should have an introduction and
a conclusion and should be written in clear, precise sentences which are grouped into
paragraphs. Your essay should incorporate information from your readings and from the
classes. An outstanding ("A") essay will explicitly include sufficient and relevant primary source
material and a thesis statement.

1. How did women try to improve the working and living conditions of women in the late
nineteenth and twentieth centuries? (Use evidence and women since the first test.) To
what extent were they successful?

2. What patterns do you see in the lives and actions of the women we have studied this
semester? Choose about five women since the last test on which to base your
observations and assessments.

Part 4. (10 points) Reflection. Since August, several guest speakers have addressed this class
about their areas of experience, expertise, and passion. What is your takeaway from these
presentations? How are they related to the course title and goals?
