SUKHOI SUPERJET 100

For MSFS2004

This aircraft was made by AEROPROYECTO Years of Work

By Edgar Guinart Lpez

Dedicated to the noble and laborious people of Russia

This project was made with tons of effort but the documentation used was
poor and incomplete, despite the invaluable help of many collaborators.
Please, if you want help to develop the future versions of this project you
can email me any documentation of the real SSJ-100. Thanks
FURTHER EXPLANATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL!!!

Panels
All panels must be open before anything; that will warranty the correct
function of the aircraft systems. A program in the main panel will ensure
that, but I recommend you to perform this action manually.

Fly By Wire
When the aircraft flight by hand the Fly By Wire program will run, under AP
control the FBW will be disconnect. The FBW will reset or stop functioning
when certain flight limits were reached, in order to avoid to loose control of
the aircraft. The limits are: attack angles over 10 degrees and bank angles
behind +/- 30 degrees, after this limits the nose will drop gently and the
bank will not hold the angle.

For better results you must use a joystick or similar, the operation with the
keyboard is possible but you must set high the key sensibility in FS menu.
This FBW system work fine at save angles but on aggressive flight it can fail,
trying to up the nose persistently. In that case: stabilize the aircraft and
relax the joy for 2 or 3 seconds and then try to control the flight again. This
bug will fix in future version. FBW system can not be off in this version.

Spoilers
In flight, the airspeed spoilers can be extend with keyboard but for it
retraction you must use the handle at pedestal panel. For secure use in
flight the spoilers only deploy half of the way. Dont try to extend all the way
in flight that will not work. On the ground, the spoilers action works fine
with keyboard in any angles.

Flaps and Slats

Flaps and Slats mechanism have a protection system to avoid the stall and
damages at certain altitudes and speeds. At altitudes lower than 1500 feet
over ground the stall protection dont work, giving the pilot all the control to
face the approach. At higher altitudes and below 170 CAS the Flap 1 will be
set, below 150 will be Flap 2 and below 140 Flap 3. The Flap 4 dont occur
automatically, avoiding excessive drag. This system stops if one engine is
shutdown. If the speed goes over 216 CAS the flaps will retract to Flap 0 to
avoid structural damages. This protection system can not be disconnected.
When flying at lowers speeds continuously check the automatic flap setting,
especially if the terrain below you is scrapped.
LANV & VNAV Systems
This model dont have a FMC (Flight Management Computer) however some
programs of the FMS (Flight Management System) will function
automatically. Im working for solve this problem, at least in part, in future
version. First than all, LNAV and VNAV will not work if no flight plan is
specified on the Flight Planner of FS2004.

The LNAV controls the navigation system on autopilot. This system forces
the aircraft to follow the active flight plan showed in the Navigation Display.
If you disconnect it and jump one point of the path you must not connect
the LNAV again because the aircraft will return to find the missed point. In
that case you can flight to destination with the standard AP function helped
by the Navigation Display information. The LNAV can be disconnected at any
time of the flight if you dont like the route.

The VNAV engage (by force) the automatic vertical speed system on the
ascent. The desired altitude must be controlled with the altitude knob of AP.
When the aircraft reach the TOD (Top of descend) point the system set
ready AP for descend following the glide path to the next point in flight plan.
One signal will appear in the Navigation Display 2000 DESC. RATE showing
the pilot the descend rate to the next point of the flight plan at the moment.
In time this rate will increase, giving a chance to decide the optimal descend
rate. I recommend more than 3000 feet at high altitudes. The VNAV not
engage descend rates over 4000 feet, behind this point the glided descend
is not possible.

When you are ready, set the AP altitude at more than 1000 feet below
current flight level and the glided descend will commence, but only until the
new established altitude is reached. So for full descend you must set a much
lower altitude in AP, I recommend that you set the airport altitude.

Under 10000 feet the unleashing altitude will be 400 feet. When the aircraft
fly near 10000 feet the system will check the speed, if overlaps 250 CAS the
vertical speed will set to 0 for help to slow down the aircraft. When that
speed has reached the glided descend will continue at new vertical speed.

When you are on final approach and below 40 meters the AP Master will
disconnect so the LNAV, LOC or ILS will disconnect too. You must perform the
short final approach by hand. The A/T Master will stay connected until the
high goes less than 10 meters, at this moment the RETARD message will
appear on the Navigation Display and then you must set idle the throttles
and wait for the touch down. The VNAV can be disconnected at any time of
the flight if the descend path dont like you.

The Flight Planner of the FS2004 dont includes approach procedures but
you can create a flight path with approach form, linking the available fixed
points near the destination airport. Remember to check the possible active
runway at destination until make the flight plan.
