7. Does this certicate enable me to teach ESL / EFL in public / international schools?
As many countries are in dire need of ESL teachers, they will often hire people with a TESOL / TEFL certicate. Often, they
require the teacher to have a degree or diploma. Language schools, on the other hand, will employ teachers in possession
of a certicate only.

Preliminary Certificate
Pre-Cert.(ES) TESOL (100 hrs.)

Preliminary Certicate
Course Objectives
The general objectives of the course require each student to be able to:
demonstrate a general understanding of, and familiarity with the world of teaching English to speakers of other languages
including general terminology, the professions qualications, further training options and career opportunities.
create an effective learning environment for learning to take place, utilizing different classroom management strategies,
options and techniques.
write objectives and appropriate lesson plans.
Course Assessment
There will be regular assignments (3), but no formal examinations. Each assignment makes up for the total assessment
mark and is to be completed once the course readings have been covered. The overall pass mark for the Preliminary
course is 50%.
The weighting of each assignment is based on course content and syllabus requirements and is as follows:

There are three (3) Modules in the Preliminary Certicate programme. Each module may be completed in two weeks. This
period may be extended (up to 6 months) offering you exibility and allowing you to work at your own pace. We at the TEFL

If a student wishes to extend their qualification further in the future, they need only register for a further four (4) Modules to

The TEFL Training College provides Internationally Accredited TEFL/TESOL courses in English Language Teaching.

accreditation ensures that the TEFL Training College is operating according to the international principles and standards
of quality. IAO provides international accreditation to education providers assuring stakeholders that the educational
program, policies and procedures of the institute, university and school are up to the international standards of quality.
IAOs International Accreditation represents the TEFL Training Colleges commitment to delivering quality which is on a
par with the global standards. It assures the stakeholders that their qualifications will have increased acceptability around
the world.
IAO grants international accreditation through a unique and patented Points Profile System that is developed by organizing

The TEFL Training College is an Institutional Member of Thailand TESOL (Membership Number: TS0356).
All personal tutors have a Bachelors degree (or higher), TESOL / TEFL certification and a minimum of 5 years English
Language Teaching experience.

Certificate and Transcripts
On Graduation, you will receive an authorized TEFL Certificate under the seal of the TEFL Training College. The certificate
and Transcript will be sent to you via email to be printed in colour by yourself on suitable high quality paper or card.
The Certificate and Transcript will be signed by the Principal and the Academic Registrar and will reflect your individual
reference number. These electronic versions of the Certificate and Transcripts will also make it easy to forward copies of
these documents to potential employers. Please note that Transcripts are not issued with Short Courses.
If you lose your Certificate or Transcript, you can email us to order a replacement.
We wil be more than willing to confirm your enrolment with the TEFL Training College with any potential employer if
requested.
Please note that a hardcopy of the TEFL Certificate and Transcript may be requested (admin@go-tefl.com) upon graduation
for delivery via registered / sign for mail. All costs of this additional service are payable by the applicant prior to dispatch.

symbols, problems and transcription, etc.
Module: The Teaching and learning of English to speakers of other languages: sources and problems of motivation at
different age levels; subject matter and procedures; teaching-learning approaches, with particular emphasis on humanistic
aspects and Communicative Language Teaching; receptive and productive skills, reading and listening materials; speaking
and writing; integration of skills; language games; oral and written forms of practice and interaction; problem solving
activities; simulation and role-play; pair work and group work; audiovisual aids.
Module: Lesson Planning: instructional objectives; writing lesson plans; teacher and learner activities; classroom
management and organization.
The Certificate course enables candidates to:
1. Develop an awareness of language and a knowledge of the description of English and apply these in their professional practice;
2. Develop an initial understanding of the contexts within which young learners and adults learn English, their motivations and the roles of the
teacher and the learner;
3. Develop familiarity with the principles and practice of effective teaching to young and adult learners of English;
4. Develop basic skills for teaching young learners and adults in the language classroom;
5. Develop familiarity with appropriate resources and materials for use with young and adult learners of English for teaching, testing and for
reference;
6. Identify opportunities for their own future development as professionals and managers in the field.
This candidate has satisfied the course requirements to be awarded the Certificate of Educational Studies in Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Assignment Feedback
There will be regular assignments but no formal examinations. Each assignment makes up for the total assessment mark
and is to be completed once the course readings have been covered. The overall pass mark for the Pre-Certificate and
Certificate Courses is 50% and the Diploma Course, Advanced Diploma and Masters Diploma is 60%.
Once a students assignment has been received and marked / assessed by a Tutor, you will receive an Assignment Result
Form. The Assignment Feedback Form provides the student with a Grade (%), Assessment Criteria and Tutor Comment.
Appeals Procedure
If a student wishes to appeal an assignment mark / assessment, the following procedures should be followed:
A letter of appeal (email) must be sent to TTC, within seven (7) days of the student having received the Assignment
result, outlining the nature of the discrepancy.
On receipt of the Appeal, the Assignment will be re-marked by an Internal or External Moderator and the result will
be forwarded to the Board of Academic Advisors (B.O.A.A.) for review. The B.O.A.A. is chaired by the Principal of the
College and convened by the Academic Director.
The decision of the B.O.A.A. is final.
If a students Appeal is upheld, the student will be re-issued with a revised Assignment Result Form.
If the students Appeal is not upheld, the student will be advised in writing (email) and given the opportunity to
