1. Is A Geographic Coordinate System?

Geographic Coordinate Systems as data that is defined by a 3-D surface and measured in
latitude and longitude. An example of a Geographic Coordinate System would be "WGS
1983" or "North American Datum 1983". You may also wonder what a "Datum" is. Just
remember that the term "Datum" and "Geographic Coordinate System" can be used
interchangeably. Essentially a Datum provides a "frame of reference for measuring locations
on the surface of the earth i.e. lines of latitude and longitude.

2. What is catosat?
The Cartosat series of satellites are a type of earth observation satellites indigenously built
by India. Up till now 6 Cartosat satellites have been launched by ISRO. The Cartosat series is
a part of the Indian Remote Sensing Programme. They were specifically launched for Earth's
resource management and monitoring.

3. What is remote sensing?

Remote sensing is the art and science of making measurements of the earth using
sensors on airplanes or satellites. These sensors collect data in the form of images and
provide specialized capabilities for manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing those
images. Remote sensed imagery is integrated within a GIS.

producd by esri.

5. What is raster data?

In its simplest form, a raster consists of a matrix of cells (or pixels) organized into rows

as temperature. Rasters are digital aerial photographs, imagery from satellites, digital
pictures, or even scanned maps.
