1.04 SUBMITTALS:

A. Submit the following in accordance with Section 01300:

Libya Infrastructure Master Spec 03425-2 20-Nov-08

1. Completely detailed shop drawings for all precast concrete barriers.
Indicate all dimensions, reinforcing steel, inserts, connections, openings
and lifting devices. Mark each member for identification. Do not
fabricate members before the CM/CS approves shop drawings.

2. Properly completed Certificate of Design as specified under Section

01300.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A. Provide in accordance with Section 01400 and as specified herein.

B. Fabrication and quality control to conform to M.L.-116.

C. Production practices shall conform to those established by Prestressed Concrete

Institute's Plant certification program.

D. Design Responsibility:

1. Complete the Certificate of Design form in Section 01300 and submit to

CM/CS prior to manufacture of precast prestressed concrete tees.

2. Submit the following support data along with Certificate of Design:

a. Certification, signed a Professional Structural Engineer employed

by the precast manufacturer stating that all members, where the
barriers are to be installed stating that all elements and connections
are designed to withstand required loads and forces.

b. Codes and specifications to which structural design conforms.

c. Do not submit calculations.

1.06 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING:

A. Provide in accordance with Section 01610 and as specified herein.

B. Coordinate the delivery, storage, handling and erection of the concrete barriers.

C. Store barriers on clean blocking, off the ground and protected from rain and
ground splatter. Cover barriers with durable covers of canvas, heavy waterproof
paper or plastic sheeting. Secure covers firmly and protect the barriers from dust,
dirt or other materials that may stain concrete.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS AND USES:

A. Cement: ASTM C 150.

B. Concrete Aggregates to conform to ASTM C 33. Size of coarse aggregate no

larger than 3/4-in. [19 mm] but not exceeding space and cover requirements of
reinforcing steel.

C. Reinforcing Steel: ASTM A 615, Grade 60 Deformed.

D. Steel Plates: ASTM A 36, Hot-Dip Galvanized.

E. Concrete: Regular weight structural concrete having a nominal unit weight of 150
lb. per cubic foot [2400 kg per cubic meter]. Minimum compressive strength of
5,000 psi [35 MPa] at 28 days.

F. Metal inserts, plates and appurtenances built into concrete barriers which will not
be entirely encased in concrete shall be hot-dip galvanized ferrous metal
conforming to ASTM A 123 and ASTM A 153. Aluminum shall not be
embedded in concrete.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 FABRICATION:

A. Fabricate concrete barriers in accordance with M.L.-116 and Sections 03200 and

B. Cast concrete barriers in smooth, rigid forms to sizes, lengths and profiles
indicated on the drawings. Properly vibrate concrete. Apply an Architectural
Class B Finish as defined by PCI to all exposed surfaces. Local surface patching
to obtain a smooth finish will be permitted only where extent of such work is
minor and where appearance is not adversely affected. Chamfer all exposed
edges 3/4 inch [19 mm].

C. Cure tees in accordance with ML-116.

3.02 INSTALLATION:
