Nikon Digital Counter SC-213/SC-212 Instructions Thank you for purchasing the Nikon products. This instruction manual is written for the users of the Nikon's. “Digital Counter SC-213 / SC-212" and describes the basic operations of the counter. To ensure correct usage, read this manual carefully before operating the instrument. + Its prohibited to reproduce or transmit this manual in part or whole without Nikon's expressed permission. ‘The contents of this manual are subject to change without notice. = Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of this manual, if you note any points that are unclear or incorrect, contact your nearest Nikon representative. + Some of the products described in this manual may not be included in the set you have purchased. * Be cure to read the instruction manual for any other products used combination with the counter (such as the measuring microscope and data processor). ‘+In thie instruction manual, the digital counter SC-213 (for 3-axes) and SC-212 (for 2-axes) aro described at the came timo mainly using tho SC-213. The points different botwoen SC-213 and SC-212 are described 50 at each occasion. Please read the appropriate part of the instructions according to your counter. Do no: use it for any other purposes. Do not disassemble. Disassembly may cause malfunction, electical shock and/or injury. All necessary operations are described in this manual. Do not disassemble aay pat other than those described in this manual. If you experience any peeblem ‘With the counter, notify your nearest Nikon representative, 3 J] Check the AC adapter. The counter employs an AC adapter as its power souree. Be sure 10 use the AC audepter supplied with the counter, ‘The use of ather AC adpler is very dangerous os it may lead to malfunction, over heating, andlor fre. © To avoid malfunction and fire, place the AC adapter in a well-ventilated place. Da not cover up or place anything on the AC adapter as this will ‘obstruct the ventilation and cause abnormal generation of heat. To prevent malfunction and failure, be sure to tum OFF the power switch of ‘the counter (press down the © side of the switch) and disconnest the power plug of the AC adapter from the wall outlet before connecting the AC adapter ‘the counter ‘2 Ifyou are planning to use the counter in the area with the supplied local ‘voltage differont from the input voltage ratings of the AC adapter, be sure 10 first contact your nearest Nikon represcntative. Using the AC adapter having, the different input voltage ratings may lead to malfunction, fire and/or elecircal shock. Never use the AC adapter if ts input voltage ratings is lifferent from the local voltage supply Do not spill water or place anything inside the instrument. Ifby mistake, waters spilled on ora slip of paper: et. gets inside, turn OFF the power switch of the counter (press down the © side of the switch) and disconnest the power plug ofthe AC adapser fiom the wall ‘outlet. Then notify your nearest Nikon representative. Do not atlempt 10 use the counter (or the equipment), ‘Turn OFF the power switch before connecting or disconnecting the cables. “To prevent instrument failure and malfunction, be sure to turn OFF the power switch ofthe counter (press down the © side of the switch) and disconnest the power plug of the AC adapter from the wall outlet before connecting or disconnecting the cables When the Data Processor DP-303 or DP-202 is connected to the counter. ‘When te Data Processor DP-303 oF DP-202 is connected tothe counter, the power switches ofthe counter and the data processor should be turned ON sand OFF in te following order. (Otherwise. the counter shows an error (B =~ ~~~ 13) (To reset the err, press the SEND switch on the counter) (© When turning ON: Turn ON the data processor first, then the counter © When turning OFF: Turn OFF the counter first, then the data processor. When the printer is connected to the counter. ‘When the printers connected to the counter, and you need to tuen ON or OFF the counter, turn OFF the printer first. If the printer power is left ON, undefined characters or figures may be printed out Cleaning the parts. Do not use organic solvents (such as eleohol, ether and thinner) om painted, plastic er printed parts as this may cause discoloration or peeling of printed. characters. (The menu FI is displayed instead ofthe count value.) 2) Press FUNC switch till the desired menu is displayed. > (There are FL tw F9" menus. See P7 for details on the menus.) 3) Press switch to select the desired parameter. IF you are using the daia processor DP-303 or DP-202, the baud rate should be set to 4800 bps. (The factory setting is 4800 bps.)
