Powers and Abilities

Deadpool is a professional mercenary with enhanced physical attributes ; he's also nearly
unkillable, being able to regenerate extremely extensive wounds and regrow lost limbs.
To top all of these, he's extremely proficient at combat, able and willing to use quite an
arsenal of blades and guns, and his acrobatic prowess is frightening.

Wade Wilson was well-respected in mercenary circles during the 70's. It is known that
during that period he dated a prostitute named Vanessa (who would later become
Copycat), married one Mercedes Wilson (now apparently back from the dead)....
Hmmm, no. Actually, Wade Wilson was a hippie/teacher during the 70's, married to
Mercedes Wilson and living in an isolated cabin. Then one day he saved Deadpool's life,
who in return killed his wife, mortally wounded him and left him for dead, and stole his
name. Due to a psychological trauma and amnesia Deadpool was suffering at the time, he
came to believe that he actually was Wade Wilson, and that his wife had been killed by a
blood-thirsty mercenary.

Deadpool's own past is unclear. He may have been a young daredevil named Jack, but
this is uncertain at best. It is thought that he suffered from a terminal, general cancer, and
volunteered for the Weapon X project in the faint hope it would save his life (he
apparently knew Garrison Kane, who was a Weapon X-engineered cyborg). In at least
one version of the events, the future Deadpool only turned to the Weapon X project after
a desperate spree of violence. Once there, he was one of the men experimented upon by
Doctor Killebrew ; he and his follows, given the terrible casualty rate, started the morbid
pastime of betting on each other's life expectancy. They called the pool of subjects they
were in the "dead pool".

The man who would become Deadpool only survived when his healing factor became
active - not due to the experiments of Killebrew, but when he became consumed with the
desire of avenging himself from the experimenters. He eventually managed to flee ; one
can suppose it is shortly after he killed Wade Wilson. It also seems that it is in this
general time frame he kidnapped a woman named Blind Alfred and began to keep her

His mental state slightly more stable than before, he began to search for meaning in his
life - but while looking, he hired himself out as an assassin to the highest bidder. It was
during that period that he killed Slayback for the first time, and met both Daredevil and
Banshee ; he also probably gained his hinted enmity with Wolverine and Cable back then.

At one point, he started working with the mysterious Mr Tolliver in order to protect his
smuggling operation, and kill Cable. However, the death of Tolliver after several conflicts
with X-Force freed Deadpool from this long contract. Deadpool's contract caught up with
him, however, when it was assumed that he was the recipient of Tolliver's much sought-
after will. After various chases and battle, Deadpool managed to find Tolliver's prize
before anyone else a Zero class android, able to neutralize and kill nearly any
superhuman threat. The Zero android left the scene in puzzlement, after Deadpool, a
remorseless killer, saved Copycat, who was present at the scene of the final battle ;
nobody has found him ever since, AFAIK (I don't think it's the same one that Stryfe used
as a teleporter).

Deadpool's career continued after that, and included a strange case where Black Tom
Cassidy cut "Wilson"'s hand off and grafted it to his own arm in order to heal himself
using Deadpool's healing factor ; Deadpool had to capture Dr. Killebrew in order to fix
himself up and, along the way, had a sort of relationship with Siryn. This meeting with
Siryn started something in Deadpool's head and, after that incident, he started to act more
and more heroic, although he vehemently denied it. This aspect of him was also
manipulated by agents of Landau, Luckman & Lake, an intergalactic and transtemporal
corporation, wanting to "clean him up" so they could recruit him as an operative.

At one point, Deadpool's original, Wolverine-replicating healing factor started to fade and
could not longer keep his generalized cancer in check. He got into a fight with a
weakened Hulk and used some of his blood as a stabilizing agent to restore his healing
factor and put his cancer into remission.

"Wilson" has three loyal companions Weasel, his best buddy and arms supplier (and
sometimes sidekick) ; Blind Alfred, an elderly woman who acts as "Wilson"'s confidant
and moral compass, but with whom he shares a dark and twisted past ; and Deuce the
Devil Dog, his pet and formerly Matt Murdock's seeing-eye dog. At one point, however,
he lost all three (he chased Weasel off, who took off with Deuce ; and Alfred disappeared
during the Cosmic Messiah debacle).

Deadpool is very muscular and broad-shouldered. His costume is red with black motifs
and covers him from head to toe, and he normally carries at least three visible weapons.
Deadpool speaks with an odd, seemingly deformed voice. If his flesh is seen, it seems to
have received 3rd degree burns all over.

"Wade" is horribly disfigured, and overcompensate this lack of social life by being the
worst motor mouth in the northern hemisphere. He's constantly bantering, making one-
liners, cracking jokes, offering seemingly friendly jibes, committing puns and talking to
himself and everyone around him, a bit like a TV game show host on speed. He most
enjoys cutting remarks, and this sense of good humor he projects often keeps his
opponents off-balance.

While he's a ruthless assassin overwhelmed by his hunger for wealth, "Wade" is also a
hero. He pretends to hate this side of his personality, and on one level profess there is no
meaning in anything, but he will almost always do the right thing, esp. saving innocents
or adverting catastrophes. Still, his deep-seated insecurities may make him shift very
quickly from super-heroic pursuits from wanting to demolish everything he sees.

Still, a more frequent motivation is money his lust for riches is irrational, and he's been
known to change sides in mid-battle if given a better offer.

DC Universe History:

Just add him to the DCU. If you want to keep the Weapon X aspect, Deadpool would
become one of the pre-Hybrid experiments of Mento with Promethium (thus explaining
his self-regenerating abilities). Of course, the main question is whether you should make
him Deathstroke's rival brother or not. Rumors that he's indeed Jericho, returned to life
through a complex path to wreak havoc, should be denied -). A nice Jericho becomes
Deadpool story could probably be designed, but I don't know enough about Jericho to do
