FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Music Series Bridges Cultures in an Historic Setting.

Starting February 12th the Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco will host its second music
concert series as unique as its historic setting. Titled "Second Sundays" the monthly series
presents nine diverse concerts themed Pilgrims of the Heart, featuring virtuoso performances
that musically embody the kinship of peoples from dierent lands and times. Each performance
will cross musical boundaries of culture and geography while expressing the common strivings
and joys of the human spirit with rare traditional compositions in authentic and novel
arrangements, as well as inspired original modern works.

The series embarks February 12th with a journey from Ireland to Sweden and beyond, by multi-
instrumentalist duo Lisa Lynn and Aryeh Frankfurter, combining Celtic harps, the rare Swedish
Nyckelharpa, Ukrainian Bandura, Cittern and more.Sharing a love for Celtic, Renaissance and
Swedish music on unique acoustic instruments, Lisa and Aryeh (say R-E-A) enchant audiences
across Europe and the US with their moving and lively music both traditional and original,
interwoven with touching and humorous stories. The duo often performs as a trio with legendary
storyteller Patrick Ball (performing later in the series), and with the Windham Hill Winter Solstice
tours, taking audiences on a unique journey they will not soon forget.

Some future performances include seven-member womens vocal ensemble Vajra Voices, in a
program of Remembered Migrations, featuring womens voices through the ages from
Renaissance to American Folk and modern compositions. Following that performance, the
modern ensemble Black Oak Trio takes The Path Less Trod, infusing traditional and classical
works with gypsy scales and modern playfulness and wit. Later, Valdama (Wild Apples), a trio
deeply rooted in Hungarian folk songs, weaves together traditional and modern compositions
with folk and jazz treatments. (Follow the listings as they appear on the Second Sundays
Concerts page at sfswedenborgian.org/concerts)

The one-hour-plus evening concerts are held in the early Arts & Crafts style candle-lit
sanctuary, a National Historic Landmark and an ideal, intimate setting for performances by the
smaller instrumental and vocal ensembles that are scheduled. Both audiences and artists have
remarked on the warm acoustics of the fire-lit sanctuary with raw madrone columns and rafters.
The series gained notoriety in its debut season last year and attendance swelled as the series
became discovered.

The series continues monthly on the second Sunday of each month through October 8th.
Tickets are an aordable $20 each, available from Brown Paper Tickets online, or at the door.
The Swedenborgian Church is located at 2107 Lyon Street in San Francisco, at the corner of
