DIGITAL COMPUTERS

They are computers that operate counting numbers and making logical
comparisons between factors that have numerical values.

Features of Digital Computers

1. Its operation is based on the count of the values that are introduced to it.

2. This type of computer must be programmed before being used for any specific
purpose.

3. They are general purpose machines; given a program, they can solve virtually all
kinds of problems.

4. They are accurate; they provide exactly the right answer to a specific problem.

5. These computers have a large internal memory, where millions of characters

can be entered.

These computers are the most used. At present, 95% of the computers used are
digital due to their great commercial, scientific and educational utility.

ANALOG COMPUTERS

Analog computers do not directly compute, but constantly perceive varied values,
signals or physical magnitudes.

Analog Computer Features

1. They are the fastest computers. All computers are fast but the direct natures of
the circuits that compose them make them faster.

2. Programming on these computers is not necessary; the relations of calculation

are constructed and form part of these.

3. They are machines of specific purposes.

4. They give approximate answers, since they are designed to electronically

represent some sets of real world dares, so their results are close to reality.

These are generally used to monitor real-world conditions such as Wind,

Temperature, Sound, and Movement.
