ob Diamond, president of the
Brooklyn Railway Association,
and the man credited with
rediscovering the almost forgotten
railroad tunnel under lower Atlantic
Avenue, was the guest presenter at the
November monthly meeting of the Bay
Ridge AARP Chapter 3630.
Diamond, an engineer spoke about
the different trolley lines that once
crisscrossed Brooklyn. He also dis
cussed the new, proposed light rail
link between Astoria, Queens and
Sunset Park that the de Blasio admin
istration is offering as an alternative
to MTA buses and subways. The new
"trolley" system would be operated
under the aegis of the city's Depart
ment of Transportation.
