Main Lesson Aims (Concepts, Procedures, & Processes):


At the end of the lesson students will be able to :
o Identify numbers that has different digits (7, 10, 230, 555, and 659).
o Use the numbers from 0 to 9 to write different digit numbers (619, 1250, and 90,000).
o Practice using different examples in doing different activities.

One digit. A symbol used to make numerals.


0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are the ten digits we use in
everyday numbers.
Two digits. 10, 11, 12, 13 . . . 99 are called 2-digit numbers.

Three digits. 118, 119, 120..999 are called 3- digit numbers.

Four digits. 1000, 1001, 1002, 1003.. 9999 are called 4-digit 1987
numbers.

Five digits. 10,000- 20,000-30,000 99,000 are called 5-digit 77,000


numbers.
Students Prior Knowledge:
o Some students may able to differentiate between different digit numbers.
o Some students may able to identify numbers with different digits.
o Some students may able to provide more example for different digit numbers. .
Possible Problems :
o Some students may not be managed at the class.
o Some students may not follow the teacher directions.
o Some students may not be able to participate in the class with the teacher.

Solutions for the Possible Problems:


o Teacher will set up the class into group of four students in different levels and abilities, so the
students will be managed.
o Teacher will set up a classroom rules with sequences to punish the student who is not following the
rule (time out chair).
o Teacher will call out students names who are not participating in the class.

Misconceptions:
o The students misapplies the rule for reading numbers from left to right.
o The students may mixed between the digit numbers.
o Student has limited his understanding of numbers to one or two representations.
Solutions for Misconceptions:
o The teacher will teach them that the two and bigger digit numbers are read from left to right.
o The teacher will teach the students that they should count the number then decide the digits.
o The teacher will help the students to understand that two digit numbers has two numbers.

Engagement: The teacher will start the lesson by greeting the students, then she will say mins
that she received an email in the morning and she wants help from someone to read
out the email for the students , then she will play the song and she will move with
the students
Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures): T-STS 35
Explore: The teacher will show the students numbers from 0to 9 and she will ask mins
them what we call these and the students will say these are numbers.
Explain: The teacher will clarify that digit means what makes the numbers, then
she will explain that 9 has one digit, 77 has two digits, 120 has three digits, and
2233 has four digits, 19980 has five digits.
Elaborate: The teacher will practice with the students different digit numbers, and
she will use the cards to support the students to find out different digit numbers. For
example, she will give each group of students a cards from one to nine, the she will

ask the students to flip the cards and she will randomly ask them to take one card for
the one digit, two cards for the two digits, three cards for three digits, four cards for
the four digits, and finally five cards for five digits and in each part she will choose
different students from different groups.
Evaluate: The teacher will provide for each group of students a worksheet and it
has the table from one digit to five digits and she will ask the students to use the
cards to choose the numbers randomly and then write them on the worksheet and
she will setup a timer from two to five minutes to finish their work.
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment): T-STS 5
The teacher will ask the students to sit in their places, and then she will present mins
numbers on the board and she randomly will ask different students to answer the
number of digits does each number has.
