1. Outline
In accordance with the release of imagePRESS Server A3200/2200/1200, the product outline is explained.

2. Description
imagePRESS Server A3200/2200/1200, compare to the A3100/2100/1100 v2.

Main new functions

1) Job Log Auto Export
The job log can be automatically sent, cleared, and saved at specified times.

2) More user-friendly Paper Catalog

Which media are actually set in the engine trays are shown on Paper Catalog.

3) Rip While Receive (PS job only)

RIP of the job is started while the job is being received, thereby allowing reduction of time until printing is
completed.

4) Compliant with 1-Up Perfect Bind of Booklet Maker4

This product is compliant with 1-up Perfect Bind, which allows the user to configure the perfect binding job settings
more easily.

5) APPE (Adobe PDF Print Engine)

While the conventional CPSI (Configurable PostScript Interpreter) requires conversion from PDF to PS, APPE
allows direct ripping of PDF files. APPE is a technique adopted to workflow RIP such as Prinect and Apogee.

6) Command WorkStation 5.2

It realizes more intuitive and flexible job management function.

7) Fiery JDF
Fiery JDF succeeds the conventional JDF Connector and provides an interface and functions required for JDF
workflow.

8) Dynamic Language Change

You can select a language from "Choose Server Language" in Server Setup without reinstalling the system. Some
setting information is initialized. Refer to Release Notes page 22.

3-3. Patch File Installation

Patch file for bug modification can be installed as follows.
- Installation using Command WorkStation through Windows 7/Vista/XP PC
- Installation using Command WorkStation through Mac OS X supported computer

3-4. Shut-down Operation

In order to protect system software and data in the hard disk, you need to shut down the controller before you turn
off the power. In order to shut down the controller, use operation panel for connection engine or operation panel for
controller. Even the shut-down operation is completed, it does not mean that all the power inside the controller is
turned off. When you provide service for the controller, please remove the power cable.

3-5. Operator Maintenance Using the Controller

Operator Maintenance Assistance software CD for operator maintenance does not come with this controller. The
master CD is distributed via service route. Therefore, if a user requests execution of operator maintenance,
installation work by servicing is required.
When reinstalling the system, the HDD is formatted and this function is deleted. It is therefore necessary to install
the software again as needed.

3-6. Checking the Service Mode of Connection Engine

When connecting this machine, it is necessary to select the engine service mode COPIER > OPTION > INT-FACE
and set IMG-CONT to "3".

When the controller is connected, the automatically recognized value is displayed in the following service mode.

3-7. Installation of Interface Board for Video Interface

Controller and connection engine are connected with two video cables as well as Ethernet crossover cable. One
interface board is equipped on the engine side as standard. If you install the controller, another interface board is
necessary to be equipped. Therefore, interface board for video is packaged.

Each cable has one keyed connector and one unkeyed connector. Before you connect the cables, please identify
keyed/unkeyed connector ends on each cable and then connect them.

3-8. Connection to Command and Status Crossover Cable and Network Cable
When you connect a Command and Status crossover cable and a network cable to the controller, please connect the
cables to the correct positions of the network port on the controller. Please refer to Installation Procedure or Service
Manual.

3-9. Regarding Top Panel (Upper Panel)

Top panel does not have the strength enough to support the weight of main unit. It is prohibited to hold the top panel
and lift up the main unit.

3-10. Notes for Replacing Motherboard

The Motherboard as the service part does not include the CPU and DIMM. Remove these parts from the old
Motherboard and attach them to the new board when replacing.

3-11. Dongle for Options

The dongle is used to protect illegal copies of the options for the product. Because of their nature of purpose as copy
protection, it is not available as a service part. If one is broken or missing, contact EFI's technical support with
detailed information. They will take an appropriate measure, sending a substitute for example.

3-12. Security Information

For this controller, Windows XP Pro is adopted as the OS. Therefore, security patch for OS is released from
Microsoft. Instruct the user to install the released security patch as soon as possible.
In addition, the installed security patch will be listed on the configuration page.

3-13. Restore Function not Supported

Restore function is the compressed backup of the initial system in the hard disk, so you can reinstall the system
without using the system CD. This function is not supported.

3-14. Specification of Calibration Paper

Three types of Calibration Paper are specified.
- Canon CLC 80gsm
- Hammermill 28lb.
- Neusiedler 100gsm
You can set the paper type on the operation panel of the engine side (screen for controller):
Functions > Run Setup > PS Setup > Calibration Paper

3-15. Points to Note when REMOVABLE HDD KIT is Equipped

It is necessary to apply the patch to HDD in order to stabilize its operations when removable HDD is equipped. (Refer
to "READ ME FIRST! Installing the Removable HDD Firmware Update".) This patch is built in the HDD, so it is
not deleted when reinstalling the system. (That is, it is not necessary to apply the patch when reinstalling the system.)
However, when the HDD is replaced, you need to apply the patch to a new HDD. Make sure to read two types of
Installation Guide before starting the operations.

3-16 There is the PS2 port out of a movement guarantee (A2200/A1200)

The PS2 connector in the controller is not guaranteed. Make the connection of a mouse and keyboard the Universal
Serial Bus port.

3-17 No operation guarantee for VGA Connector (A3200)

Operation of the VGA connector on the rear side of the controller is not guaranteed. When connecting the monitor,
connect to the DVI connector.
