Guidelines for Pre-Case Analysis (for reporting

groups)
1. The analysis should deal with the social,
entrepreneurial and managerial issues raised by
the case. It should not be just a restatement of the
facts in the case. Thus, while you may (and will)
wish to bring relevant case facts into your
analysis, you should always relate them to the
points you are making.
2. You may find it appropriate to consider the
context of the situation, the goals and objectives
of the company or the owner/manager, the
environment and technologies available at the
time of the case situation and the competition.
3. The questions assigned with the case are
designed to assist you in preparing the write-up.
They do not necessarily deal with all the
important issues in the case, but they should be
considered carefully. You may ignore them
specifically in your written analysis if you feel
they are not relevant to the main points you are
making. You certainly should bring in other
issues that you feel are important to your case
analysis.
4. The analysis should be submitted in 12-point
font, computer prepared form and should not be
more than eight double-spaced pages excluding
exhibits/numerical analyses. Exhibits, such as
organizational charts and numerical analysis can
be handwritten if desired. The analysis may be
shorter than eight pages since the emphasis is on
quality not quantity.

POST-CASE ANALYSIS FORMAT

I. DO YOU AGREE WITH THE MAIN

ISSUE/S THAT THE CASE
PRESENTORS FOCUSED ON AND
WHY? IF NOT, WHAT SHOULD
HAVE BEEN THE MAIN ISSUES?
II. DO YOU AGREE WITH THE
CRITICAL FACTORS PRESENTED
BY THE GROUP AND WHY? IF
NOT, WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN
THE CRITICAL FACTORS?
III. RECOMMENDATION
a.Which should be the best course of
action from options presented? Why?
b. What potential problems will the
presenting groups chosen
alternatives encounter? Why?
Guidelines for Post-Case Analysis (for SELECTED
non-reporting group)
1. The post-case analysis is designed
to examine what you have learned
about entrepreneurship and
management from a particular case
including written materials, case
presentation, class discussion, and any
video or guest speakers/resources by
case presenters.
2. The post-case write up demands
that you extrapolate or reflect from all
the materials and discussions of the
case and clarify the lessons taken and
apply them in future entrepreneurial
management roles.
3. The pre-case analysis length varies
but should be around 4-8 double
spaced pages in 12 point font.
