SPECIFIC COURSE INFORMATION
a. Course Description
The course contains basic concepts on two types of logical reasoning known as for mal and infor mal logic. The formal logic
focuses on classical and modern logic while the informal logic stresses on inductive reasoning and analyzing arguments based on natural
language.

The course aims to equip the students with rules, principles, and methods of analyzing and composing arguments which can be a pplied in
their daily life.
b. Course Outcomes
By the end of the cour se, the students w ill be able to:
1. Explain the definition of logic and its relevance in daily life.
2. Classify various for ms of ter ms and propositions.
3. Distinguish different classes of syllogisms and its parts.
4. Apply rules in validating deductive and inductive arguments.
5. Construct good arguments by avoiding fallacies.
6. Evaluate whether an argument is valid, fallacious, strong or weak.

2. All absences must be notified before or immediately before or upon your next attendance with a letter of excuse and
supporting document/s attached therewith. Excused absence/s will not be counted.
2. Seatworks, recitations and any other outputs such as take-home requirement not taken on the scheduled date or past the
given deadline shall not be given any consideration.
2. Any form of alteration and erasure on a specific item on an output shall be marked incorrect regardless of the answer.
4. Unnamed and unidentifiable outputs shall not be checked nor recorded regardless of the answers or scores.
2. All scores encoded in the ARIS shall be presumed to be true and correct unless contested or disputed by the student with
reference to his/her returned output.
3. The student shall have the responsibility of checking and viewing in ARIS hi/her own records regularly whenever an
announcement of completion of encoding has been made.
4. Should there be any discrepancy about the scores encoded; the result of the returned output shall preva il as long as the
ARIS has not been locked yet.
5. No removal exam or special project shall be given solely for the purpose of modifying any score whatsoever, once the
FINAL PRELIM, MIDTERM and END-OF-SEM GRADE is computed.
