BPS Sales Planning


Use
The building block BPS Sales Planning supports the sales planning process in your company.

1 Prerequisites
Before starting activities in this building block, you need to perform or check the following steps:
1. BW Connectivity:
Local Settings SAP R/3: all activities have to be completed.
Local Settings SAP BW all activities have to be completed.
Cross Connectivity Connecting SAP BW with SAP R/3, SAP CRM, SAP SRM:
Connect your R/3 System.

2. General Settings for BW Integration:


a. General Settings in R/3. all activities have to be completed.
b. General Settings in SAP BW: all activities have to be completed.

3. Sales Analysis:
Configuration of Sales Analysis as described in the Best Practices for BI Building Block Sales
Analysis.

2 Configuration
.2.1 Copying the InfoCube Sales Overview

Use
To plan data it is necessary to assign a transactional InfoCube to a planning area. To have the
same data structure for the plan and the actual data, the standard InfoCube 0SD_C03 is copied
to a transactional infoCube.

Prerequisites
The InfoCube 0SD_C03 is activated as described in the Building Block Sales Analysis.

Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:
SAP BW Menu Modeling Administrator Workbench: Modeling
Transaction code RSA1

Then carry out the following steps:


1. On the Administrator Workbench Modeling screen, choose InfoProvider.
a. In the InfoProvider tree in the right-hand window, expand Customer Relationship
Management (0CRM) ERPAnalytics (ECC_CRM).

b. Right-click the Sales and Distribution Analysis-SAP R/3 SD (0SD) InfoArea and choose
Create InfoCube.
2. On the Edit InfoCube dialog box:
a. Enter ZSD_C03, Sales Overview transactional in the InfoCube fields.
b. Enter 0SD_C03 in the Copy from field.
c. Select the BasisCube and the Transactional fields.
d. Choose Create.

3. On the Edit InfoCube screen, choose Activate (Ctrl+F3).

.2.2 Creating Standard Planning areas


Use
To plan data for the future and use historical data as template, two planning areas are created:
One planning area for historical data and one for plan data.

Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:

Best Practices Plan


1. On the Business Planning and Simulation screen, choose Planning Planning Area Create.
2. On the Create planning area dialog box:
a. Enter BPBIPLAN, Best Practices Sales Plan in the Planning area field.
b. Select Standard.
c. Choose Create.

3. On the Change planning area BPBIPLAN screen:


a. Choose the Attributes tab.
b. Select Local.
c. Enter ZSD_C03 in the InfoCube field.

d. Choose Save all (Ctrl+S) .

Best Practices Actual


1. On the Change planning area BPBIPLAN screen, choose Planning Planning Area Create.

2. On the Create planning area dialog box:
a. Enter BPBIACT, Best Practices Sales Actual in the Planning area field.
b. Select Standard.
c. Choose Create.

3. On the Change planning area BPBIPACT screen:


a. Choose the Attributes tab.
b. Select Local.
c. Enter 0SD_C03 in the InfoCube field.

d. Choose Save all (Ctrl+S) .

If you want to continue with the next activity, do not leave the transaction.

.2.3 Creating Multi-planning area

Use
The Multi-planning area is used to combine the actual and the plan data.

Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:
SAP BW Menu Business Planning and Simulation Planning Workbench
Transaction code BPS0

Best Practices Plan


1. On the Business Planning and Simulation screen, choose Planning Planning Area Create.
2. On the Create planning area dialog box:
a. Enter BPBIMP1, Best Practices Sales Planning in the Planning area field.
b. Select Multi-planning area.
c. Choose Create.

3. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen:


a. Choose the Attributes tab.
b. Double-click BPBIACT and BPBIPLAN from the Basis area list. Theay should appear in
the Basis areas included section.

c. Choose the Variables tab.

Calendar Year/Month
1. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen, choose Create.
2. On the Create variable dialog box:
a. Make the following entries:

b. Choose Create.

3. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen, in the Characteristics section, choose Insert

4. On the Characteristics dialog box, select 0CALMONTH and choose Copy.
5. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen:
a. Make the following entries:

b. Choose Create in the User name section.
6. On the Restrict Value Range dialog box, select your user (and all other user who should plan)
and choose Copy.
7. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen:
a. Enter a value range in the Selection Conditions sections (for example 01.2005, 12.2005).

b. Choose Save all (Ctrl + S) .

Customer
1. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen, choose Create in the Variables section.
2. On the Create variable dialog box:

a. Make the following entries:

5. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen:
a. Make the following entries:

b. Choose Create in the User name section.
6. On the Restrict Value Range dialog box, select your user (and all other user who should plan)
and choose Copy.

a. Enter a value range in the Selection Conditions sections (for example 3001, 3007).

b. Choose Save all (Ctrl + S) .

1. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen, choose Create in the Variables section.
2. On the Create variable dialog box:
a. Make the following entries:

3. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen, in the Characteristics section, choose Insert

5. On the Change planning area BPBIMP1 screen:

b. Choose Save all (Ctrl + S) .

.2.4 Creating Planning Level

Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:
SAP BW Menu Business Planning and Simulation Planning Workbench
Transaction code BPS0

1. On the Business Planning and Simulation screen, right-click the created Multi-planning area
(Best Practices Sales Planning, BPBIMP1) and choose Create level.
2. On the Create planning level dialog box:
a. Enter BPBILS1 in the Planning Level field.
b. Best Practices Sales Planning in the Description field.
c. Choose Create.
3. On the Change planning level BPBILS1 screen:
a. Select the Chars. tab.
b. Select the following Characteristics from the Characteristic List:
Base Unit of Measure
Calendar Year/Month
Credit/debit posting (C/D)
Document category /Quotation/Order/Delivery/Invoice
Material
Sold-to party
Value Type for Reporting
Version

and choose Add to selection .


c. Select the Selection. tab.
d. Place the cursor in the From field behind Calendar Year/Month and choose Switch
variable on/off .
2. On the Variables dialog box, select CALMONTH and choose Copy.
3. On the Change planning level BPBILS1 screen:
a. Place the cursor in the From field behind Credit/debit posting and enter D.
b. Place the cursor in the From field behind Doc. cat. Q/O/D/I and enter O.
c. Place the cursor in the From field behind Sold-to party and choose Switch variable on/off
.
4. On the Variables dialog box, select CUSTOMER and choose Copy.
5. On the Change planning level BPBILS1 screen, place the cursor in the From field behind
Version and choose Switch variable on/off .
6. On the Variables dialog box, select VERSION and choose Copy.

7. On the Change planning level BPBILS1 screen:


a. Select the Key figures tab.
b. Select Quantity in base units of measure from the Key figure list.

c. Choose Add to selection .

d. Choose Save all (Ctrls+S) .

.2.5 Creating Planning Package

Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:
SAP BW Menu Business Planning and Simulation Planning Workbench
Transaction code BPS0

1. On the Business Planning and Simulation screen, expand the created Multi-planning area
(Best Practices Sales Planning, BPBIMP1) and right-click the created planning level (Best
Practices Sales Planning BPBILS1) and choose Create package.
2. On the Create planning package dialog box:
a. Enter BPBIPS1 in the Planning package field.
b. Best Practices Sales Planning in the Description field.
c. Choose Create.

3. On the Change planning package BPBIPS1 screen, choose Save all (Ctrls+S) .

If you want to continue with the next activity, do not leave the transaction

.2.6 Creating manual planning


Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:
SAP BW Menu Business Planning and Simulation Planning Workbench
Transaction code BPS0

1. On the Business Planning and Simulation screen:


a. Expand the created Multi-planning area (Best Practices Sales Planning, BPBIMP1) and
double-click the created planning level (Best Practices Sales Planning BPBILS1).
b. In the Planning functions section, right-click Best Practices Sales Planning (BPBILS1)
and choose Create manual planning.
2. On the Create Layout dialog box:
a. Enter BPBILAS1 in the Layout field.
b. Best Practices Sales Planning in the Description field.
c. Choose Create.

3. On the Change planning layout BPBILAS1 screen:


a. Enter Sales Planning in the Description field.
b. Select Key Figs. in Data Columns in the Layout Category section.
c. Make the following entries in the Settings for Characteristics section:

d. Choose Continue.
2. On the Change planning layout BPBILAS1 screen:
a. Select the tab Data Columns.
b. Make the following entries (see tip below the table):

Entering the Variables.


Variable CALMONTH
1. On the Change planning layout BPBILAS1 screen, place the cursor in the field below
Calendar Year/Month and choose Variable .
2. On the Variable dialog box:
a. Select Variable.
b. Choose matchcode in the field Name.
3. On the Variable(1) dialog box:
a. Select CALMONTH.
b. Choose Copy.
4. On the Variable dialog box:
a. Enter 0 (1, 2) in the Offset field.
b. Choose Continue.

Variable VERSION
1. On the Change planning layout BPBILAS1 screen, place the cursor in the field below Version
and choose Variable .
2. On the Variable dialog box:
a. Select Variable.
b. Choose matchcode in the field Name.
3. On the Variable(1) dialog box:
a. Select VERSION.
b. Choose Copy.
4. On the Variable dialog box, choose Continue.

c. Select Display tool .


3. On the Display tool dialog box, select SAP ALV Grid and choose Continue.

4. On the Change planning layout BPBILAS1 screen:

Creating Planning Folder


Procedure
This step has to be carried out in the BW system:
SAP BW Menu Business Planning and Simulation Planning Folders
Customizing
Transaction code UPSPM

1. On the Planning Folders screen, choose Planning Folder Create.


2. On the Create New Planning Folder dialog box:
a. Make the following entries:
Field Entry
Name of Plng Folder BPBIPF1
Description Best Practices Sales Planning
Variable type Folder Without Separate Output Area, Not Web-Enabled
b. Choose Create Planning Folder.

3. On the Change Planning Folder screen:


a. Expand the created Multi-planning area (Best Practices Sales Planning, BPBIMP1).
b. Expand Variables.
c. Drag and drop the Variables Calendar Year/Month, Sold-to-Party and Version from the
Area into Variables in the Planning Folder section.
d. Expand the Level Best Practices Sales Planning (BPBILS1)
e. Double-click the Package Best Practices Sales Planning (BPBIPS1)
f. Expand Manual Planning in the Planning Functions section.
g. Drag and drop the planning layout Sales Planning (BPBILAS1) from the Planning
Functions section into Input Layouts in the Planning Folder section.
2. On the Create Planning Object dialog box, choose Continue.
