Yes, maam

Okay, Helen Adams Keller was an

American author, political activist, and
lecturer. She was the first deaf-
blind person to earn a bachelor of arts
degree. The story of how Keller's
teacher, Anne Sullivan, broke through the
isolation imposed by a near complete lack
of language, allowing the girl to blossom
as she learned to communicate, has
become widely known through the
dramatic depictions of the play and
film The Miracle Worker. Her birthplace in
West Tuscumbia, Alabama, is now a
museum and sponsors an annual "Helen
Keller Day". Her birthday on June 27 is
commemorated as Helen Keller Day in the
U.S. state of Pennsylvania and was
authorized at the federal level by
presidential proclamation by
President Jimmy Carter in 1980, the 100th
anniversary of her birth.

A prolific author, Keller was well-traveled

and outspoken in her convictions. A
member of the Socialist Party of
America and the Industrial Workers of the
World, she campaigned for women's
suffrage, labor
rights, socialism, antimilitarism, and other
similar causes. She was inducted into
the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame in
1971 and was one of twelve inaugural
inductees to the Alabama Writers Hall of
Fame on June 8, 2015. Keller proved to the
world that deaf people could all learn to
communicate and that they could survive
in the hearing world. She also taught that
deaf people are capable of doing things
that hearing people can do. One of the
most famous deaf people in history, she is
an idol to many deaf people in the world.

b.2. Presentation

Class, do you love to eat chocolate? Yes, maam

I have here a bar of chocolate and

Im going to divide it in four equally.

So I have now four sliced or 4/4 of

chocolate. I give the one slice to
Mario and the other to Nicole. How 2/4 was given
much chocolate I have given in all
and how much was left? 2/4 was left

very good

I sliced the chocolate into four, so

we got 4/4. I have given Mario and
other to Nicole the chocolate. If we
add and the sum is 2/4. And
the part was left to me was 2/4.

Now class, do you have an idea on

our topic? Yes, maam. Its adding and subtracting
fraction.

Very good

b.3. Discussion
Okay class, our topic for today is
Adding and Subtracting Fraction.

So we have here different rules in

adding and subtracting of fr actions. Take
note that I am going to give you a quiz
after this so you better bear witl1 me
class, listen carefully as I am Going to
present and discuss each rule one after
tl1e other.

To add fractions with similar

denominators,we simply add the
numerators and write the sum over
the same denominator.

Dulce ate 2/5 of the cake in the mor ning

and 1/5 in tl1e afternoon. How much cake
was eaten by her?

What is asked in the problem?

The amount of cake eaten by
Dulce.
What are given?
The answer is 3/5.

So we are going to add the given

fraction to answer what is asked in the
problem. As what is stat ed in the rule,
we simply add tl1e numerators and we
the sum over the same denominator in
adding of similar fractions. So we simply
add 2 and 1 which is equal to 3 and
write over the same denominator which
is 5. And 2/5 cake in tl1e morning and
1/5 in the aft ernoon.

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Solve each problem.

1. Julie bought 2/6 meter of red ramie cloth for her table napkins and 3/6
meter ramie cloth for placemats. How many meters of cloth did she
buy?
2. Mrs. Robles baked 1 and 2/3 dozen cookies. She brought2/3 dozen to
school for her friends. How many dozen of cookies were left?

V. Assessment
