combining close visual study of artworks with historical investigation and
analysis. Art History students ain an understanding ofthe development
of art in cultures around the world and throughout time, as well as an
appreciation forthe deep relatonship between art and broader soctal and
cutural concerns, Through the study of Art History, students bulla skits
in visual analysis an interpretation, eticl thinking, research and wring,
Students majoring in Art History may explore art and visual culture from
around the world, lear fundamental art technique, and gain experience
in museum and galery work. Core courses in the major cover the
history of Western art and provide instruction in the fundamentals of
Crawing, Electives offer students the opportunity to explore non-Westem
art, 10 go deeper in ther study of a selected period of art, or develop
their hands-on understanding of the materials and techniques of art-
making.
