Ten Reflection

Reflection 1:
How did you feel on the first day?
What did you do to show that you are a professional?

Today is my first day in Practicum at Al Oula KG. This KG Location is ALShawamek, At


made me comfortable from the start because my house is Close to Al Oula KG.

I meet my beautiful MST teacher her name is Saleh Al Harthi.She teaches KG 2. I also
meet the kids and knew about their names.

Firstly, When I entered the KG today The colors attracted me in the doorway there are
drawings everywhere. Secondly, I meet my beautiful MST teacher her name is Saleh
Al Harthi.She teache KG 2. I also meet the kids and knew about their names.
, I helped her to receive the kids. At 8:00 we took the kids to Taboor all of the class
were stand there. At 8:30 the Taboor ended.Then Miss Saleh start to teach and do some
activities until 10 AM . Then we took the kids to the dining area. At 10:50 the second
class start in this lesson I took a group of children to draw with them, to know them
Closely, then the class finished at 12:30 AM. After that, I and miss Saleh took the Kids to
the school bus.

Finally, what did you do to show that you are a professional?


When I stand with the kids in Taboor I read the Quran with them then I did morning
exercises. However, we sang National anthem.Also I teach two girls How to draw
butterflies using watercolors ,we did this activity outdoors.

In Conclusion, It was a very nice day I learned a lot of things that will help me in the
future. I expect to get more knowledge in the coming days.
Reflection2:

What surprised you?


I was surprised when the teacher talk with the kids, all of them listen to her, However,
She let them talk but not a whole of the class, after that when miss Saleh said " Class
Class " they stop talking and set nicely.

What shocked you?


Her way of punishment is really easy but it effective on kids. When all students in the
class sit on Carpets and if one of them did not keep quiet she makes him sit in the
middle of the carpet and his friends on the side.At the end of the lesson, She does not
give all the students Who placed them in the middle any gifts and stickers.

What delighted you?


The thing that made me very happy Is when school is over after a long and hard day.
Some small students come to me and give a hug. Where I discovered it was a daily habit,
where they did it with their teacher every day.

Reflection 3:

Based on your observations and discussions, summarize what you have observed.

There are many activities in this class.Some tools help to study provided by the school to
students.There is a smart board to view lessons and videos in it.,controlled by the
teacher. There are many centers in the class Reading Center, Computer Center, Messy
Play Area, Art Center, Language Center, Science Center, drama Center , where activities
are distributed to students. Each place is potentially only 2 student or three students.
There are many things in the class same as large and small numbers, games, puzzles,
Number plate .All materials are stored in their daily place in small and big boxes some of
them stored. Students know how they return the materials to their former place. The
teacher has a lot of cabinets to put the materials on it. She has a small table for her
computer.
There are many areas encourage independent learning same as reading Center student
can read a story and understands the main idea and Art Center it develops creativity in
the choice of colors, shapes, and graphics.
Reflection 4:

Why is planning and preparation for learning important?


What do you have to think about before you begin to plan for learning?
What stages did the teacher go through in order to be prepared for teaching?

Planning is the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to
achieve the desired goal. It helps to organize ideas also save time. However, It facilitates
our audit process.
Before teacher begins to plan she should put a goal. They know the level of kids and
their weaknesses. The teacher prepares activities before starting the lesson and
distributed at the student level.

My MST plan weekly for what are going to do for the next week on a daily basis. Also,
she said" Everyone is responsible to send the plan for next week to the principle every
Wednesday"
Sometimes she does some things that are not planned depending on what happens
during the day. The teacher should differentiate between the students as they have
different abilities, for example, I have the high, middle, and low groups, each group will
have different tasks to do for the same lesson in addition to that, and she should
differentiate between the individuals in each group.

What have you noticed about learners from this observation?


What did you notice that relates to the theories we have been discussing?
What interested or surprised you?

First. I will talk about one of the students his name is Ahmed. He is a little weak student
in studying and Understanding. When I watched him I discovered many things about his
behavior, he is not a rude student ,where he is very shy. Ahmed needs more time to
understand.However, Ahmed doesnt like to sit in the same place for a long time. He has
an energy that must be exploited. Sigmund Freud's work and theories helped shape our
views of personality and childhood, the play tells us important things about a childs
inner life.

Ahmed is changing but slowly. He is developing in Cognitive changes in thinking,


language, and learning. Also, he is not good at "Socio-emotional- relationships with
others. He needs to create a relationship with his friends.
This student surprised me because he is an intelligent boy. Sow he needs to review a lot
and support from parents at home.

What was the same or different about the two learners?


What did you notice that relates to the theories we have been discussing?
What interested or surprised you?

I will talk about one of the students his name is Zaued He is a very intelligent student he
can understand quickly and .when I Watched him I saw that he like to help friends. he
told them " no this Wrong, do this, do that ".One of the negative behavior of Zayed is that
he answers all the questions that the teacher asks and does not give his friends a Chance.
He can do many of Fine Motor Skills such as Laying string, Drawing or Writing, Shaping
clay. Developed in Cognitive and Language.
I was surprised that he could collect large numbers, where they do not teach them
Addition and Subtraction.

4. Are there any children in the class with difficult or unusual behavior? How does the
teacher deal with these children?
5. Overall, is the teacher more negative or positive when dealing with management
issues? Why?

The most important thing I noticed is when children moving for a new activity it worked
well because when the teacher said Lets go to centers, they listen to her direct when
they finish the groups. They return the centers clean.
First tips and strategies I took are how to make kids listen to me, also How to deal with
children who Misbehavior I should teach them to understand their mistake.

What techniques do you think the teacher uses to manage the children and why?
First, Put rules of the classroom children must distribute to groups so that they can easily
deal with. Listen to kids and listen to their stories.
However. There are children who have difficulty understanding, so the teacher should
take care of them and try to deliver the information to them in many ways.
Teacher more positive when dealing with management issues, she can control them
dealing with, also she has many ways of persuasion.
Reflection 8 :
1. How long do the children spend on one task?
2. What kind of tasks do they do individually? In pairs? In groups? As a class?
3. How does the teacher introduce the task? How are the instructions checked?
4. Work with a child. Ask him/her about what they enjoy doing at school. The
activities/subjects and why.
5. Ask a child about the things they are good at and also about what they want to
learn more about.

Children spend 15 to 20 minute in one task, Student may do many tasks in the same class.
There is tasks student should do it individually and others in groups according to teacher
distributed. For example, in the individual work, the student writes his name by himself,
where groups work is the most active. Student likes to work in a group, in the group they
do some task alone, then they Share it with them. Student work in group while they play
in Messy play center when they build cubes. Also in Drama Center.
I ask one of the students about what they enjoy doing at school? Her name is Dana.She
likes math class more than other class, She told me that they do many activities, games
and having fun. She loves counting cubes and loves drawing numbers outside on the
ground.

Reflection 9:

5. Ask a child what they enjoy about this class. Ask them what they learn?
6. Do you notice any special techniques that the teacher uses?
7. Does the teacher use strategies which are different from their main teacher?
8. What did you enjoy the lesson?

Student takes physical education two times a week. At Al Oula Kg they dont have a
special teacher for this class. They Take this class in Sports arena or in the outdoor
garden. Its a big area for all of the school, every class or two classes use the place
together. The teacher let the student do exercise, Running, Walking, Jumping,
Dancing.There is much equipment same as Ropes, football, basketball, music player to
help teacher and student to get Knowledge and have some fun.
Miss Saleha has special techniques she is funny, active, organization, as well
She loves help. She uses strategies to attract the childlike encourage students to exercise,
maintain their health.
I really enjoyed physical education class it is fun for all teachers and students, keeps
children healthy .also it changes a routine.
Reflection 10:
What math or science concept the learners are studying e.g. numbers, addition,
measurement?
Did the students seem to enjoy the lesson? Why or why not?
Were students using the new math or science language in English? In Arabic?

I will talk about one of the subjects which are math. They learn numbers from 1 to 20,
counting and writing and pronunciation these numbers. Students seem to enjoy because
there are many ways to understand, forming the numbers by Clay and Cubes, and they do
much activity like sinning and playing.Students use the new math.They study
mathematics in English, but the teacher is Emirati, so she teaches them in both languages.
