Chemical Storage Guidance Note

A Important notice
In accordance with HSE guidelines and regulations, before this cabinet is placed into operational use,
it is the responsibility of the user to ensure that : the signage to be displayed on this cabinet is appropriate
to the hazards associated with those chemicals or products to be stored within.

In addition, where more than one chemical group is to be stored, it is the user responsibility to ensure
that : chemical segregation requirements are in accordance with HSE or European guidelines and
recommendations. To achieve segregation or volume controls additional cabinets may be required.

It is recommended that prior to operational use a full and detailed study of all Chemical MSDS is conducted
to determine those hazards - with particular attention to section 10 - incompatible substances.

A reference chemical segregation chart is detailed overleaf and whilst applicable to chemical warehousing,
the segregation levels detailed within the chart are also recommended for day to day operation and storage
of smaller quantities.

Where the cabinets will be used for the storage of ammable
liquids then the client must ensure that :
No more than 50 litres for extremely, highly ammable and those
ammable liquids with a ashpoint below the maximum ambient
temperature of the workroom/working area.
Gas Cylinder Environment Skull & Crossbones No more than 250 litres for other ammable liquids with a higher
Gases under pressure Aquatic toxicity Acute toxicity (fatal or toxic) ashpoint of up to 60C.

A Note
Whilst these three chemical symbols represent ammable,
oxidizing and explosive materials, each of which are commonly
stored in these types of cabinets, they should never be stored
together in any combination in the same cabinet. To achieve
