TITLE ROAD AND BUILDING SETTING OUT

Introduction

Level 2 laboratory activity refers to condition where the problem and ways &
means are guided and given to the students. However the answers to the
assignment are left to the students to solve using the group creativity and
innovativeness. The activity is hope to slowly introduced and inculcate
independent learning amongst students and prepare them for a much
harder task of open-ended laboratory activities.

Objectives

The objective of this laboratory is to obtain setting out points for a simple
circular curve by pre-computation and hence execute the fieldwork based
on the data computed.

PREAMBLE Learning Outcomes

At the end of the laboratory activities, students should be able to:

1) Form effective teamwork,
2) Communicate effectively through laboratory reports and oral
communication,
3) Use of critical thinking in solving problems related to survey data
4) Prepare appropriate survey equipment involved.
5) To tabulate the setting out data into the proper table.
6) Analyze setting out data.

Problem Statement

There are many accidents that have been reported that involved at some of the
road curvature in UiTM Pasir Gudang. As a surveyor, your team is asked to
review the existing setting out and compared with the actual construction plans
PROBLEM STATEMENT for improvement purposes.

Using the suitable equipments and method, collect the suitable data at
existing road curve and use the data as a guided to tabulate the existing setting
out and identify the important parameters.

WAYS & MEANS

Data Acquisition

The pre-computation data will be tabulated in the tables given below to

ease the verification and presentation of the technical report. The original
table can be determined from appendix 1(a).

4.0 Result, Analysis and Conclusion

The group is required to submit the technical report of the laboratory

results highlighting the apparatus used, the procedures undertaken for
RESULTS the test, data acquisition process. Analysis carried out and the
relevancy of the set-out output to address the given problem. The
format of the technical report is left to the creativity discretion of the
group.

The report must be submitted on week 9
