Unit Plan Topic Butterflies

Lesson Subject area and Grade level Science

Learning Objectives Students will complete a powerpoint

explaining life cycle of butterflies.
Procedures 1) Students will complete a variety of
tasks that correlate with a butterflys
life cycle.
2) Students will begin class with clicker
questions where they have to send in
the correct picture that correlates
with each phase of a butterflys life
cycle. This will give a broad view of
the students knowledge on the
subject.
3) Students will then, through specific
direction and lecture during class,
follow along and participate in the
butterfly life cycle lesson by creating
a powerpoint with a slide for each
phase of the butterfly life cycle, and
give a description of that specific
phase and include a picture.
4) Students will end class with another
series of clicker questions to see how
much they have learned from todays
lesson.
Teacher Technology Activity I will have a prezi presentation explaining in
detail each phase of a butterflys life cycle
and the names of each phase.
Student Created Technology Activity Students will create a powerpoimt on the life
cycle of butterflies.
Materials needed Computers, clickers, prezi
Evaluation Rubric Students correctly make a powerpoint
presentation with:
1) A title page
2) Slides on each phase of the butterfly
life cycle in chronological order.
Each slide must include:
a) A picture of the butterfly
during this specific stage of
its life cycle
b) A correct description of what
 is going on during this stage
of its life cycle
c) The name of this specific
stage of its life cycle.
3) Step 2 will be used to evaluate each
slide in the students powerpoints.
