I n March 1899, the Cadillac Commercial Club, the forefather of the current Cadillac
Area Chamber of Commerce, was established with a stated purpose of securing
manufacturing, soliciting local investment, and fostering, protecting and advancing
the commercial interests of the City of Cadillac and Wexford County. Formulated by
community leaders and true visionaries, its approach was big picture and long-term

in strategy. More than a century of service later, the current focus of the Cadillac Area

Crosby: Much needs to change
for Michigans education system

Scott Crosby recently gave a presentation that showed the potential
of education.
On Dec. 11, the Wexford-Missaukee Intermediate School District
Superintendent spoke during the Cadillac Area Chamber of
Commerces Lecture Luncheon on the campus of Baker College.
During the presentation, Crosby spoke on the past, present and future
of education in regard to how schools receive funding, as well as how
information is delivered. In his opinion, schools and the state are
going to have to change how they deliver educational content while
