LUMS Students Council 2016-2017 Annual Report

2 0 1 6 - 2 0 1 7

ANNUAL
REPORT

Executive Summary
The Academic Year 2016/2017 has indeed been one of unprecedented successes and

of course, challenges. Your Students Council throughout has strived to represent you

in their utmost capacity. We are proud to have accomplished feats such as almost

doubling TA Salaries, approving numerous developments on campus (the Student

Lounge, Coffee Room in the Library and recreational rooms in hostels), a new

counsellor, 24/7 Doctor facility, organising Edhi and Cleanliness Drives, Sexual

Harassment Campaigns, Initiating Student-Professor Lunches, re-establishing the

Student Action Committee, ensuring price and quality standards on campus and

much more. We have learned that representation is not an easy task, as each action of

the council should incorporate the enormously diverse perspectives of the entire

Student Body; we have tried at all times to listen to everyone but do recognise that

we may have fallen short of that goal in instances. Nevertheless, we are confident

that we have earnestly strived to serve justice to our mandate and hope that you feel

likewise.

We had been in constant talks with Col. Amer to introduce bicycles on

campus - we are happy to inform that they will be available from this

Fall. We have also purchased photo-frames to decorate Student

Lounge and hope to complete this before the upcoming semester.

Demarcation of parking has also been promised to us by the

administration. On the issue of laundry, our representatives have

worked tirelessly to reach solutions and progress has been updated to

the upcoming council.

EC

EXECUTIVE COUNCILS CLOSING NOTE

Faraz Ahmed, GS
Its been a happening year to say the least. A lot has been

accomplished and a lot is yet to be done. It is an

honourable task to represent the brightest - and I hope in

doing so, we have served justice to our mandate. The

council earns its power from the trust of students; and as

long as it holds that trust, great things can be done.

Ahmad Murtaza, President

Overwhelming as it is, leading the LUMS Student Body

has been a worthwhile experience. The Council is a sacred

institution and I hope people continue to realise its

potential. I have poured in countless hours to ensure I live

up to this great responsibility and yet still, I feel havent

done justice to it.

Talha Ishaq, VP
It has been a wonderful experience leading the LUMS

Student Body. Drawing on your trust, we have tried to

achieve impossible tasks and in instances, have

managed to do so.
