LEAF Board Application:

Stephen Wilmans

1. My wife, Roxanne and I are annual financial supporters and we attend the Spring and Fall festivals.

2. I love it! I feel it brings a lot of people together for a great cause. I also really like the international aspect
and combining it with a local perspective.

3. Many great things. Jennifer Pickering was kind enough to meet with Roxanne and I awhile back
talk about all the projects and work that is going on, both locally and in Africa, Central America and
The Caribbean.

4. I've enjoyed many local festivals and events, including DTAF, Goombay, LAAF and French Broad Riverfest.
I'm always amazed at the sense of community shown by all those involved.

5. I'm very interested in the work that is done with regards to preserving the musical and cultural legacies
of indigenous peoples that are in danger of becoming lost.

6. a) I have a bachelors in studio recording/ maintenance


b) I have worked for 30+ years in the recording studio business as an engineer/producer
as well as a studio owner. I have also opened a brew pub and hostel in downtown Asheville.
c) I don't have a lot of hands on experience working in volunteer related projects, but would love the
opportunity
to get involved.
d) I have served on a family foundation that does a lot of work in the Bay Area.

8. My background in studio recording/music business would be beneficial to any music production


aspects.

9. Obviously music is my main passion but I am also interested in the international aspects. I also have interest
in childhood development
and any artistic disciplines.

10. To be able to give back to the community, both locally and internationally, and do my part
in trying to make a difference.

11. I feel that I will bring enthusiasm and dedication to helping LEAF continue with its already
fantastic work.
