TABLEAU I
The children given presents: the boys march with their new guns, the
girls dance with their new dolls
After going to bed, Clara returns to see the nutcracker, and as the
clock strikes midnight she sees the Christmas tree grow as she
shrinks down to the size of the nutcracker
Led by the Mouse King, mice stream out of the cracks in the wall for a
battle with the Nutcracker
Just as the Mouse King is about to defeat the Nutcracker, Clara throws
her slipper at the Mouse King, allowing the Nutcracker to defeat him
