Human trafficking leaves no country untouched, including the United States. American
citizens are trafficked the same as people in India or Nigeria; the U.S. is a source, destination,
and transit point for trafficking victims. Everybody can be trafficked. Your nationality, class,
education, gender, or age dont matter. People who traffick children and teens make promises,
sometimes, of a better life for the person. But of course, all of them are lies.

In the U.S. , child labor trafficking occurs in well-known

industries like tourism: hotels, or bars ; and in the agricultural
industry (kids work in cotton plantations, mainly) . Child sex trafficking occurs in
strip clubs, via massage services, and through prostitution on the American streets.
Besides, modern child trafficking has become easier to perpetrate because
traffickers use the Internet to promote their slaves.

Approximately 244,000 to 326,000 American children are at risk for

commercial sexual exploitation each year. Many are runaways, homeless, or
vulnerable children.
Nevertheless, a big portion of those numbers include children who willingly
introduce themselves intro prostitution to escape from violent parents.

However, there are many international organisations trying to help victims of child trafficking. Polaris
Project is one of the leading organizations in the global fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
They re-educate children and try to help them finish their studies . Volunteer work is crucial there: language,
math or art teachers are required; as well as psychologists and social educators.
