To Nurse Recruitment,

This correspondence is in regards to the open registered nurse position in the nurse residency
program at the UC Davis Main Hospital. I am graduating in December 2017 with a Bachelors of
Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona and am extremely interested in this new
opportunity. I have had the opportunity to do several clinical rotations, ranging from long term
care to critical care. Recently, I extended my critical care knowledge and skill set on the
intermediate medical care unit/progressive care unit at Banner University Medical Center Tucson
campus. This 5 week long preceptorship required a full time commitment, averaging three 12-
hour shifts a week. Such a well-rounded educational position has allowed me to expand upon the
critical thinking skills necessary in critical care areas, to hone my assessment skill, and expand
upon my holistic nursing abilities.

In addition to my clinical experience, I have had significant work experience in health care
working as a Home Health Aide for Bayada Assisted Living. During my time with this company,
I typically have worked 12 hour overnight shifts where I am the sole caregiver to adult. Despite
ranging in disability, age, and needs, I have practiced empathy as well as adding to my
understanding of disease process that the aging individual may experience. The most important
aspect of this works has been the reinforcement of the fundamentals of nursing that I learned at
the very beginning of nursing school. Having had such personal experiences beyond the hospital
and education setting has allowed me to gain a unique insight to patient care, and will further my
abilities in becoming a critical care nurse.

Additionally, I firmly believe and agree in your mission of providing quality and compassionate
patient-focused care while also remaining innovative and forward thinking. The integration of
future and technology into nursing care is imperative to successful healing. I would be thrilled to
be a part the UC Davis nursing team and would be an amazing first step as a soon-to-be nurse. .

Sincerely,

Cecilia McGalliard
