1. What is the purpose of having/following a Code of Ethics?

o In IEEE Code of Ethics, people are responsible to treat fairly all persons and
to not engage in acts of discrimination based on race, religion, gender,
disability, age national origin, sexual orientation, gender identify or gender
expression.

2. When you are faced with an ethical situation, how do you, personally, go about
making a decision? What factors are involved in making your decision? Be
specific!

o When I am faced with an ethical situation, I will consider the code of ethics.
For example, when we make a project in the company and we have to
consider the ethics part in our progress of designing that project. To specific,
we need to consider the factors that like the race, religion, gender, disability,
etc. that is included in the Code of Ethics.

3. What ethical issue was discussed during your meeting? How did the ethical
considerations introduced by your class differ from your own? How were they
alike? Was your class able to come to a consensus on what the
most "ethical" decision would be?

o We discussed the disability ethical issue in our meeting. The professor gave us
an example that the ATM machine is not convenient for the people who are
left handed. In my daily life, I did not realize this problem because most
people are right handed. This example let me realize that when we are going
to design a project, we need to consider carefully about the code of ethics so
that the project can treat all persons fairly. Our class did bot come to a
consensus on the most ethical decision would be.

4. Reflect on the "Virtue of Ethics" as it relates to the case study your group
discussed. Choose three of the six virtues that you feel are most related to your
case study and briefly write about them. Why did you choose the three you
did? How are they relevant to the case study? Why are the other virtues less
relevant? Is there another ethical virtue you feel could apply to your case study
that is NOT included in the "Virtue of Ethics? " Why or why not?

a. To improve the understanding of technology.

b. To accept responsibility in making decisions consistent with the safety, health,
and welfare of the public.
c. To treat fairly all person.
Because these three issues are the most relevant in my opinion.
For the first ethics, as an engineer, I believe we need to understand the knowledge
of our field well so that we can complete great projects.
For the second ethics, I think we need to care about this ethics when we are
processing on some projects that may have safety issues.
For the third ethics, in my opinion, fair is one of the most important ethics.
