INSTRUCTIONS FOR IAT

IAT #1 A will be for Academics

At this IAT, we will be discussing the students in TIER 3 who were identified by the specialists before
school started and that are already receiving RTI (pull out interventions). New students and students in
Tier 2 who are receiving interventions by the teacher and are not improving, will be taken to IAT #2 in
November.

By now, every student in TIER 3 should have interventions entered in Chancery RTI. Some students
already have this info in Chancery, others dont. It is the teachers responsibility to open a file in
Chancery and enter Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions for Academics or Behavior. If the previous
teacher entered info in Chancery, you will continue entering current info.

Teacher specialists will give you an orange folder per child in Tier 3 with the Referral forms for you to
complete. They are self-explanatory and you dont have to complete page 2 since you will have entered
the same info in RTI Chancery, so a printout will suffice.

The IAT meeting is scheduled to last 60 minutes, so, in order to expedite it, you will need to meet with
the specialist and interventionist prior to IAT, to talk about your students and the interventions they are
receiving. Ask questions such as, the teaching strategies and materials they are using and results of the
progress monitoring.

During the IAT meeting, we will review this info and we will decide whether the student moves to Tier 2
or remains in Tier 3, and if we want to continue with the same interventions or try new ones.

IAT #1 B will be for Behavior

At this IAT, we will be discussing the students who were identified during in-service week on Getting to
know your students and NEW students that are having behavior problems. If you attended the
meeting with Ms. Ebel and me, you were given an orange folder with strategies to use with your
student. You will receive the Referral forms for IAT, you will mark Behavior and complete the page. All
students that have an orange folder for behavior should have info entered in Chancery RTI for behavior.
For some students, you will find out that they already have one RTI opened for academics, so you
continue documenting under behavior. For students referred for the first time, you will also have to fill
out the referral forms and enter in Chancery Tier 1 and Tier 2 the interventions that you are using.

In order to expedite IAT #1B, you will need to meet with the counselor prior to IAT, to talk about your
students, the interventions you are using and possible new interventions. These interventions entered in
Chancery should have a way to monitor progress and this is what we are going to talk about during IAT
meeting.

The IAT#1B schedule includes teachers that received orange folders at Getting to know your students.
If you dont have to meet because none of those students came back, let me know and I will schedule
another teacher at that time. If the student doesnt exhibit behavior problems anymore, you still have to
meet because we have to document the progress in the orange folder that you received. If you have
new students and your name doesnt appear in the schedule, let me know and I will put you in the
schedule and give you the forms.
Logistics:

Two teachers are scheduled to go to IAT at the same time since we need the referral teacher and a
grade level teacher in the committee. Two TAs will pick up your classes from CE and will split them
based on the list you will provide. Bring your orange folders with the forms completed and the data/info
you want to add. We will keep the orange folders in a central location.

NOTE

With this plan, your students will not miss instruction, the split classes will only be for a few minutes (for
the remainder of the IAT meeting time) and TAs are not being pulled from intervention (only two TAs
that will pick up students from CE). We appreciate your cooperation because time is precious and we
want to maximize it for students to be in class learning.
