Introduction:

This assignment is to assess that the student understands the information

presented in the orthopedic fracture module. The assignment takes the form of a
VoiceThread slide presentation. VoiceThread was chosen as a way for the student to
become comfortable showing their knowledge of the material by narrating their slides in
a method similar to how they would present the information to a patient. Please be
creative in your development and presentation of this assignment.

Overview:
The assignment consists of a VoiceThread presentation of 5-6 slides (not
including introduction and reference slides). The maximum length of time for the entire
presentation is 8 minutes. All references will be cited in APA format. In the assignment,
the student will present information in the first person, as if they were speaking to a
patient who had suffered from an orthopedic fracture. Each student will choose one of
the listed fractures. Once a type of fracture is chosen, it will not be available for another
student to use. Students will choose fracture types on a first come first served basis listed
under the tab FRACTURE TYPES.

The student will present the flowing information:

The type of fracture
The most likely cause of this type of fracture (provide a specific
example)
Provide two (2) likely nursing interventions
Provide two (2) potential or actual nursing diagnoses for this type
of patient

Using VoiceThread:

Voicethread allows you to create a series of slides that you can narrate. For
example, if you create a PowerPoint presentation, you can upload the presentation to the
VoiceThread site and narrate over the slides. Please refer to the following links for
guidance with creating an account and building your VoiceThread assignment.
