for streams in AYURVEDA, YOGA & NATUROPATHY, UNANI, SIDDHA AND HOMOEOPATHY

The follow ing Central Research Councils function under M inistry of AYUSH , Govt, of India to prom ote and
coordinate research activities in the respective system s of medicine
1. A yu rv ed a: Central Council for Research in A yurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)
ii. Yoga & N atu rop ath y: Central Council for Research in Yoga & N aturopathy (CCRYN)
iii. U n an i: Central Council for Research in Unani M edicine (CCRUM)
iv. S id d h a: Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS)
v. H om oeopath y: Central Council for Research in H om oeopathy (CCRH)
2. The M inistry of AYUSH has recently taken an initiative to fund m eritorious scholars in the field of AYUSH
system. A N ational level com petition, nam ely, AYUSH N ET to select such scholars, w as conducted by the
M inistry recently. A nother initiative is to provide grant to those U niversities/Institutes which conduct Ph.
D courses in A YU SH disciplines and select candidates through their own exam ination for funding
m eritorious scholars selected by them. The num ber of such fellow ships is given at para 3 below. In this
connection, CCRAS on behalf of the above-m entioned five Central Research Councils invites applications
fro m U n iv e rs itie s / In s titu te s fo r g ra n t o f s c h o la rs h ip fu n d e d by M in is try o f A Y U S H .
U niversities / Institution satisfying the follow ing criteria / facilities are eligible to apply:
(i) Ability to support research in subject areas aligned to the priorities of M inistry of A YU SH (priority areas
uploaded on the w ebsites as m entioned at para 4 below). The proposed research should enhance the
contem porary relevance of AYUSH system s of healthcare in the 211century. For this, it should contribute
to developing the interface of know ledge betw een AYUSH systems and N atural/ Biological Sciences;
(ii) Ph.D. program m es in AYUSH disciplines and/or in Life Sciences related to M edicine& Pharm aceuticals
with m inim um track record of 3 years;
(iii) Infrastructure, viz., In-house laboratories, clinical/literary/library facilities, or having identified
collaborative centres w ith such facilities for im parting Ph.D. at recognized Institutes;
(iv) recognition from UGC;
(v) high quality research guides;
(vi) sufficient num ber of eligible faculty to guide Ph.D. scholars in AYUSH and/or other Life sciences related
to M edicine and Pharm aceuticals (which m ay include M icrobiology, Physiology, M olecular biology,
Genetics, H um an Biology, Bioinform atics, Biotechnology, Biochem istry, Biophysics, Im munology,
Pharm acology, Zoology, Environm ent Science, Botany, Veterinary Science, m athem atics and social
sciences).
(vii) a track record of high quality research with high impact research papers published in reputed journals; and
(vii) a fair and effective selection process for selecting A YUSH fellows.
3. The num ber of fellow ships to be aw arded stream -wise is as detailed below:

Note: The no. of fellow ships as indicated above are tentative and subject to change.
4. The interested Public/Private University/Institution possessing the above m entioned criteria/facilities
as on the date of publication of advertisem ent in the Em ploym ent News m ay apply to the undersigned in
the prescribed application form for the respective stream s of their interest viz. Ayurveda, Yoga &
Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Hom oeopathy. The Application form is available on the follow ing

of AYUSH in this endeavor are advised to clearly specify their status vis-a-vis each of the eight criteria
specified at para 2 above. Only the Shortlisted Institutions w ill be inform ed and called for the next stage of
selection process. The applicants are advised to visit these w ebsites regularly for updates.
