Count to and across 20 forwards and backward beginning with 0 or 1 or any given numbers.
Lesson Objectives: These must be SMART objectives specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bound
By the end of the lesson, students will be (better) able to
o Understand how to add two 1 digit numbers together with illustration ( low level)
o Add to 1 digit number to 10 as well as read, write and interprets mathematical statement that use =,+ (
medium level)
o Add two digit numbers to make 20 as well as read, write and interprets mathematical statement that use
=,+ ( high level)
Resources:
Different manipulative objects (sticks, cubes, and counters).
Markers.
Signs( =,+, -)
Smart board
Printable math board with pictures squares( low level activity)
Number line and question cards( middle activity)
printable math board high level "say it, make it, write it" + addition cards ( high level activity)
Personal focus (related to PDP): In this lesson I am working on my
Address students behavior during activities, I will manage that by reminding students about the rules, using
signs and non-verbal communication and parsing students on positive behavior or great works.
Evaluation / Assessment: (How will you know your students have achieved the goal?)
(How will you evaluate the objectives that were identified? Have students practiced what you are asking them to do for evaluation?)
While students are doing the activity, I will walk around to observe and monitor students to check their
understanding. Also, I will ask them an oral question, such as, how did you get that?
Moreover, I will provide appropriate feedbacks for them to improve their learning.
Strengths:
o Teaching the lesson without intervention from the teacher, helped me understand how
the students learn best and how I needed to present the subject material to support
their development. For example, releasing that students learn and obtain more
information by doing rather than listening. Also, each student learns differently than
their peers so, incorporate learning styles into the lesson.
o Hand on activities were a fabulous way for students to understand concepts in a
developmentally appropriate hands-on way rather than a worksheet or book will do.
Suggestions for improvement
Prepare extension activities because some of the students finished their work quickly and
wanted other activities so, I have to keep students busy by planning various extension activities.
