1. Getting started
1.1. Remote system activation
Remote system activation
To activate a Remote system there are information that must be added.
For Remote gateways that is going to be used with GPRS, the Remote gateway must have a SIM
card installed, good signal strength a n d b e powered on .
The information that are marked with * is required.

Device ID* - The Remote gateway unique Device ID, that is
supplied in the packaging of the Remote gateway.
Activation code * - Activation code for the Remote gateway. It
is printed on the same sheet as the Remote gateway Device
ID is found.
Subscription key to use - If there are activated subscription keys
it can be added to the Remote gateway. Subscription keys
is used to add extra functionality to the Remote system.
Subscription keys are activated at the menu Account/Licensing.
If you had the SIM card delivered together with the Netbiter ona paper as shown in the picture
at the left, then click I have a Netbiter SIM-card, otherwise click I have a custom or standard SIM card.
SIM-card mobile number*- (not available for all products) The mobile phone number that is going to
be used for the Remote gateway. The phone number should start with the country code.
APN* - The access point name, APN. supplied with the SIM card that is going to be used.
APN username - If the operator a username is required for the APN, it should be entered here, and
is supplied with the SIM card.
APN password - If the operator requires a password for the APN it should be entered here, and is
supplied with the SIM card.
- (not available for all products) The product type of the Remote gateway. This will

determine what type of firmware that will be used. See the packaging information for details.

1.2. List all inactive Remote systems
List all inactive Remote systems
Lists all inactive Remote systems for this account. If a Remote gateway isn't in use it is good
practice to set it as inactive. As soon as it's going to be used again just set it to active using
Activate.
First time users will have a Remote system that is inactive, and has to be activated to be able to
configure and use it.
Name - The Remote system name.
- The Remote gateway unique Device ID, that is supplied in the packaging of the
Device ID
Remote gateway.
Project -
Displays the what project that the Remote system is connected to. Click the name for a
short cut to the page where the project can be edited.
- Subscription level for the Remote system. See Account / Licensing o r A c c o u n t /
Level
Information / Subscription information for more information.
GPS - If a GPS device is connected to the Remote system Y e s will be displayed, otherwise N o.
- There are following Actions that can be used for the Remote system:
Actions
Activate - The Remote system can be activated, which it must be to be able to configure it and
have it to send logs and alarms.
Remove - The Remote system will be completely removed from the the account, and will mark
logs and historical data for deletion
1.3. Add a Remote system to the account
Add a Remote system to the account
At this page a new Remote system can be added to the account in use.
To be able to add the Remote gateway the Device ID included in the product packaging shall be
used.
Information are required for fields marked with *.
System name* - A describing name for the Remote system.
Device ID*
Remote gateway.
-This is a unique code for this Remote gateway, that is supplied in the packaging
Activation Code*
of the Remote gateway. it is important to keep this Activation code safe.
Project* - Select the project that this Remote system it should belong to.
Time Zone - Time zone where the Remote system will reside in.
add - Will add the Remote system to the project, and save all entered information.
1.4. Mobile network for a Remote gateway
Mobile network for a Remote gateway
To be able to use a Remote gateway with mobile data communication it has to be configured
with the correct APN.
If you had the SIM card delivered together with the
Netbiter ona paper as shown in the picture at the left, then
click I have a Netbiter SIM-card, otherwise click I have a custom or
standard SIM card .
SIM-card mobile number*- (not available for all products) The

mobile phone number that is going to be used for the
Remote gateway. The phone number should start with the
country code.
APN* - The access point name, APN. supplied from the
operator that delivered the SIM card that is going to be used.
APN username - If the operator a username is required for the APN, it should be entered here, and
is supplied with the SIM card.
APN password - If the operator requires a password for the APN it should be entered here, and is

2. Managment
2.1. System
2.1.1. Configure Remote systems
Configure Remote system
This page is used to configure a Remote gateway, and connect Remote devices to it.
Parameters for logging, alarm and visualization on presentation pages are configured here.
To activate changes made to the configuration it has to be synchronized to the Remote gateway.

After a configuration file has been altered it has to be synchronized with the configuration file
in th Remote gateway.
- The date and time when the configuration last was updated.
Last configuration update
- This is the date and time when the configuration was synchronized.
Last synchronization
(green text) The configuration is up to date
(red text) The configuration on the server is different compared to the configuration on the
Remote gateway, and should be synchronized to become active.
Synchronize configuration - Click this button to start configuration
Device configuration
At this tab the Remote device is set up. It could for example be a Modbus slave. The
configuration requires that there are an Template or Device profile for the Remote device
available before it could be added. There are a number of ready to use Templates available
from start, like the Netbiter I/O Extender series, that will show up as Template when adding a
new Remote device.
There are templates available for upload to your Netbiter Argos account from Intellicom
w e b s i t e. Template at that page can be downloaded to the computer, and then uploaded to
Netbiter Argos.
Device configuration list
Lists all added Remote devices in a list.
Device - The name of the Remote device.
Device type - The type of the Remote device.
Settings - Information about the settings of the Remote device, such as Modbus address for a
Modbus Remote device.
Template - The Device template used for this Remote device. Templates are edited i the
M a n a g e m e n t / T e m p l a t e page.
Action - Tools to edit the Remote device setting, or to remove the Remote device from the
Device configuration.
Add device
All fields marked with * are required.
Device type- Type of the Remote device that is going to be connected to the Remote gateway, or
select virtual for the Remote Gateway's internal I/O and registers.
Template - The template describing the Remote devices registers.
Device Name * - A name describing the Remote device.
For Device type Modbus

Modbus Slave * - The Modbus Slave address for the Remote device. Consult the Remote device
user manual how to set the Modbus Slave address (valid: 1-247).
Modbus IP - If the Remote device use Modbus IP its IP-address should be entered here.
Modbus port - The Ethernet port that is going to be used for Modbus IP. Default port is 502.
Save - Saves the configuration, and will add the device to the list under Device configuration tab.
Cancel - Abandon all changes, and return to Device configuration tab.
Server side alarm configuration
Alarms in this section are generated from and monitored by Netbiter Argos.
Following server alarm could be set:

Offline alarms - This alarm will be triggered if a Remote system goes offline. Netbiter Argos check
if the module is offline, and if it's it will trig an alarm.
GPS Position - If the Remote gateway is moved a longer distance (m) than set under Map, in the
management of a Remote system, it triggers the server side GPS position alarm
No GPS signal - If there is no GPS signal, or if GPS information sent to the server (due to weak
signal), this server side alarm will be trigged.
Logging
At this tab the logging parameters are set. All parameters for the devices that are configured at
the Device configuration tab are available for use.
Above the parameter list the following information are displayed:
With current configuration log will be saved for X days - X will tell for how many days more detailed data will
be stored.
Average data is saved for X days - X days are for how many days there will be data saved, that are an
average for every hour.
Logging parameter list
Device - The name of Remote device.
Device profile - If a Device profile is used, the profile name is displayed.
Group - The group where the parameter belongs to in the Device template or Device profile.
Parameter - T h e p a r a m e t e r n a m e i n t h e t e m p l a t e .
Description - The name that will be displayed for the user in the graph.
Unit - The unit that will be displayed together with the parameter name in the legend.
Log interva l - The time between the samples that will be made.
Log share - The amount of lagging space that will be occupied by this parameter. Parameters that
take a small share of the logging memory space will be green then it will become yellow ant
finally red for the parameters that takes the larger shares of the logging memory space.
Action - Actions that can be performed on the logging parameter
Edit - Edit the logging parameter settings.
Clone - Will clone and create a copy of the logging parameter, that can be changed. Useful for
parameters that are very similar, and just change the parameter and description as one
example.
Add new parameter or edit existing one
To click the button add log parameter to open up the dialog box to enter parameter details.
Device - Select the Remote device that holds the parameter that will be added.
Group - The template group where the parameter exists in.
Parameter* - The parameter's name in the template that will be logged. The name can be edited in
t h e r o w Description.
Description - The parameter name in the template will be automatically copied to this field. To
edit the parameter name, without changing the template, click the check box at the right of the
field. Then it is possible to change the description that will be viewed at the Historical data
page. If the change should persist, and be done for every device that are using this template,
edit the parameter name in the template instead.
Unit - This unit will be displayed in the legend of the graph. The unit will automatically set to
the unit in the Remote device template, to changed the text click the checkbox at the right of
the row.
Scaling - This is a divider to scale the value read from the register.
Example
Parameter value: 6
Scaling = 2 will give 3 as the logged value.
Scaling = 0.5 will give 12 as logged value.
Offset - The offset adds a number to the read and scaled parameter value.
Example
Parameter value = 2
Offset = 1 will give 3 as the logged value
offset = -1 will give 1 as logged value.

- The maximum number of decimals that should be used for the logged value.
Number of decimals
This automatically use the information that is set in the Remote device template. To edit the
value for this specific parameter, click the checkbox at the right to be able to edit how many
decimals that should be used.
Valid range - For parameters that can be set a range can be defined to avoid that invalid values
can be entered.
Enumeration - For parameters that is of enumeration type in the template, the enumeration can be
overridden by clicking the checkbox at the right of the row. The parameter value can be
presented with the string definition for a value.
Log interval - The time that will elapse between the readings that will be logged. Can only be set
to the time periods that are available in the drop down box.
Log type - Can be set to:
Value - The parameter value at the sample.
Delta - The difference from this sample and the last sample. Typically used for energy meters
as an example.
Save - Click this button add the log parameter or changes made to an existing log parameter.
Cancel - Cancel the edits made to this log parameter.
Visualization
The parameters used for the Overview page for a Remote system, or to be used for custom
dashboards.
Visualization parameters list
Device profile- If a Device profile is used, the profile name is displayed.
Description - The name that will be displayed for the user on the Overview page.
Unit - The unit that will be displayed together with the parameter value.
Action - Actions that can be performed on the visualization parameter
Edit - Edit the visualization for the parameter.
Clone - Will clone and create a copy of the visualization parameter, that can be changed. Useful
for parameters that are very similar, and just change the parameter and description as one
example.
Add a new visualization parameter or edit an existing one
Click the button add visualization parameter to create a new visualization parameter.
Parameter* - The parameter's name in the template that will be visualized. The name can be
edited in the row Description.

Before a mail/SMS can be sent to a user, the user must have a valid email address/mobile
phone number, correct scheduling for alarms and access to this project with alarms
enabled. T h e s e u s e r p r e f e r e n c e s is found in the menu Account/Users.
Alarms parameter list
Device - The Remote device from where the alarm originates.
Device profile - If the alarm is configured in a Device profile, it will be displayed from here.
Group - The template group which the parameter belongs to.
Parameter - The template parameter name for this alarm point.
Description - This is the description that will be displayed in the alarm lists.
Trigger - The trig condition that will activate the alarm is displayed in this column.
Severity - The severity class for the alarm parameter. It is a good practice to set a severity other
t h a n Indeterminate.
Action - The following actions can be performed on an alarm parameter.
Edit - Edit the alarm parameter settings.
Clone - Duplicate this alarm parameter. The new parameter can be changed. Useful if there are
two or more parameters that are very similar (example just change the parameter and a
number in the description).
R e m o v e - Remove the alarm parameter from the alarm list.
Add new alarm parameter or edit existing one
Click the button add alarm parameter to create a new alarm parameter in the alarm list.
Device - Select the Remote device that holds the parameter that will be used to trig an alarm.
Parameter* - The parameter's name in the template. The name can be edited in the
r o w Description. The arrow down button at the end of the row copy the name to the description
field.
Description* - The parameter name in the template will be automatically copied to this field. To

Class - Alarm class is a way to group alarms in different blocks, for a user group and for an
alarm group as two examples. It can be a number from 1 to 10.
Severity* - The severity class for the alarm parameter. It is a good practice to set a severity other

At this tab the settings for the serial ports are made.
GPS
This is the settings to connect a GPS device to Netbiter, using the RS232 Dsub interface. The
GPS device must support NMEA version 3 protocol, with sub message GGA and RMC. Settings
should match the GPS device. Please, read the user manual for the correct settings.
Enabled - Set if the GPS device should be enabled or not.
Baud rate - The baud rate that match the GPS device.
Distance - The distance that the GPS shall be moved before it reports the position to Netbiter
Argos. If this value is low it will generate a larger amount of datatraffic. The GPS position may
vary a bit, due to antenna signal strength and the number of satellite that can be received.
Default value is 100 m.
Modbus
This is the Modbus interface settings.
Physical - The physical interface that will be used.
Baudrate - The baudrate for the Modbus network. It should match the settings of the Remote
devices connected. Please, check the user manuals for the Remote devices how to change
settings to the Remote devices (Modbus Slaves).
Parity - Number of parity bits. Should match all Remote device used in the Modbus network.
Stop bits - The number of stop bits that should match all Remote devices used in the Modbus
network.
Connected Device profiles
To be able to see this tab, click the Show Advanced Config link at the right.
Connected Device profiles list
This list the Device profile that are connected to this Remote System. The Device profile is a
shared configuration, which several Remote devices share the exact same parameters. There
can be more than one device profile connected to the same Remote device. This can be use to
administrate settings that are the same for several Remote devices in different Remote systems.
To connect a Device profile to the Remote system click Connect device profile .
Device - The Remote device that will be used for this Remote system.
Device profile- The device profile that is connected to this Remote system. The Device profile is
created or edited at the menu Profiles.
Action - Following actions can performed on a connected Remote device.
R e m o v e - Remove the connected Device profile from the Remote system. This will not remove
the Device profile from the account.
More about scaling and offset
The parameter value is first scaled, then the offset is added, to get the calculated value like this:
If used to scale parameter that is in Farenheitand want it to be in Celcius , or Celcius that will
be presented in Farenheitit should look like this.
In the example where Celcius is calculated scaling is set to 1.8 and offset i set to 32.
In the example where Farenheit is calculated scaling is set to 5/9 = 0.5556 and offset is set to
(-32 *5/ 9) = -17,7778 .

administrate settings that are the same for several Remote devices in different Remote systems.
To connect a Device profile to the Remote system click Connect device profile .

Action - Following actions can performed on a connected Remote device.
R e m o v e - Remove the connected Device profile from the Remote system. This will not remove

More about scaling and offset

This information is section holds information about the Remote system.
Device ID - The Remote gateway unique Device ID, that is supplied in the packaging of the
Remote gateway.
System name - A name for the Remote system. It is a good practice to choose a name that
Time Zone - Set the time zone where the Remote system resides. First dropdown box sets an
geographic area, and the second one cities. Select the area, and then a nearby city.
Project - Select which project the Remote system belongs to.
Enable GPS trackning on map - This enables tracking on map for Remote gateways with a enabled and
connected GPS device. The GPS device is activated under the menu Configuration a n d t h e t h e
Gateway settings tab for Remote gateways where the functionality is available.
Select the overview page to use for the system
The System overview start page is the page that will be displayed when a user select a Remote
system in the Presentation menu of Netbiter Argos.
System overview page - The System overview page can be set to:
Default - This is the default view. If there is dashboards available it will be selected,
otherwise th Remote system Overview page will be used.
Custom start page - For some Remote system there special custom builds start pages.
This option is only available for special accounts.
Edit optional settings for the settings
System description - A description of the Remote system.
Location - The location where the Remote system is located.
Contact person - The Remote system contact person, who to contact when having questions about
the Remote system.
System URL -
Address - The address to the Remote system.
ZIP / Post code - The address ZIP or post code.
City - The City for the address
State / County - The address state or county.
Country - T h e a d d r e s s c o u n t r y .
Additional information - Additional information about the Remote system contact person. Could be
phone numbers, e-mail address, office hours and other.
Image for the Remote system
At the right a photo or image used to visualize the Remote system can be uploaded.
Browse - Select a image file to upload.
Clear- Remove the current image file.
Upload - Upload the image file that was selected from Browse.
Save the information

2.1.4. Overview of the current status of the Remote system

Overview of the current status of the Remote system
This page will give the current status of the Remote system, and tools to check online status,
estimation of data traffic and for some products information about serial protocol data traffic.
First time user should go to the tab Configuration to set up parameters to display and for log
and alarms.
Online status indication
At the start of the menu bar there is a star indicating the online status of the Rremote system.

Online status graph
At the top of the page there is a graph displaying the history online status for the last day of
the Remote system. If the mouse is pointed to a point in the graph detailed data will show. For
o t h e r t i m e s p a n s t h e Online History a bit further down could be used.
Below the graph there is an rough estimation of the data traffic for the Remote system. The
actual data traffic sent might be different due to overhead for different networks, recent data
from lower ethernet OSI-level layers. Some operators will charge for a minimum amount of
bytes, why this number should be used as an estimation only.
Gateway configuration synchronization status
- The date and time when the configuration was changed.
Last Configuration Update
- The date and time when the configuration file was last downloaded to the
Last Synchronization
Remote gateway.
Online history
This is to display a graph, or download a csv-file, with the online status history. This is useful
to discover cyclic behaviors or other clues to find why a might unexpectedly go offline.
Extended Remote gateway information
This part will hold more detailed data read from the Remote gateway, to see the current
versions and statuses of firmware and system. The information might be different depending
on the product.
Product name - The product name of the product.
Version - The firmware version that is currently running in the Remote gateway.
Build - The build number of the firmware.
Kernel version - The systems kernel version, and date when it was compiled.
MAC address - The MAC address of a Ethernet product, or IMEI-number for a mobile connected
device.
IP ETH0 - The IP address for the primary Ethernet interface. (Only for some products)
Information updated - Date and time when this information was read.
Time settings - The time in the Remote Gateway will be compared to the server time. The times
compared is in U T C - t i m e.
Time zone settings - Compare the Remote gateway Time zone settings with the settings at the
server. (Only for some products)
Protocol statistics
Protocol statistics for protocols used in communication with Remote devices.
Serial Modbus communication statistics
Statistics for communication with a Modbus Remote device using the serial Modbus protocol.
Device - The Remote device name set in the configuration.
Valid responses - Number of valid responses received.
Serial timeouts - Number of serial timeouts.
Exceptions - Number of Modbus exceptions.
CRC errors - N u m b e r o f C R C - e r r o r s.
Buffer overruns - Number of buffer overruns.
Frame errors - Number of frame errors.

This feature is not available for every product, and might not be visible.
From here a backup of the configuration files from a Remote gateway can be done. The file will
be stored on the server. The backup files can later be used to restore a configuration for a

Overwrite - This check box should be checked if the current, or older, firmware version should be
reinstalled.
2.1.6. Map configuration
Map configuration
At this page all map configuration is done, and settings for the GPS.
How the serial port settings is done depends on the product. Please refer to the product user
manual for correct information.
Use the map to set position
The position of the Remote system could be set by drag en drop the red marker on the map. At
the left there are tools to adjust the zoom level, and panning the map.
Set the position using coordinates
The position can be set using the coordinates in WGS84- f o r m a t .
Latitude - The Remote system latitude position in WGS84-format..
Longitude - The remote system longitude position in WGS84-format.
Alarm radius
The Alarm radius is the radius in meter a Remote gateway has to be moved before it triggers
the server side GPS position alarm. The server side GPS position alarm is set from
Configuration menu, and Gateway settings tab for the Remote gateway.
Get position from GPS
If there is an enabled GPS connected to the Remote Gateway the GPS b u t t o n c a n b e u s e d t o g e t
the postion of the Remote system.

2.2.1. List all active Remote systems

This pages lists all Remote systems that have been activated for the account, regardless the
project it belongs to.
For Remote systems that isn't in use it is good practice to set it as inactive, Deactivate, to avoid
unwanted logs and alarms to be trigged and relayed.
If the number of entries are more than ten a drop down box at the upper left corner will be
displayed, where the number of entries per page can be set To browse the pages there
navigation links at the top and bottom of the project list.
To filter the project list can be filtered using the search box at the upper right corner.
The list can be sorted by clicking the column heading, and the sort order is marked with a small
arrow at right for the column heading.

- Unknown status, which could indicate that there is a problem with the communication
from the web browser to Netbiter Argos.

Sync- indicates that the Remote system configuration is the same as the configuration for

Actions - There are following Actions that can be used for the Remote system:
Replace - To replace a Remote system, maybe because it is broken, with a new, with a new one
of the same type.
Deactivate - The Remote system be inactive. This will open a new dialog from where mark logs
and historical data will be marked for deletion by default. Uncheck the checkbox to keep that
data.
R e m o v e - The Remote system will be completely removed from the the account, and will mark
logs and historical data for deletion.

log data and alarms go to the menu Presentation.
This page lists all projects for this account, and gives a quick overview of the status of the
Remote system in each project. The use of project makes it easier to find and organize Remote
systems.
For first time users a project called MyFirstProject automatically will be created, click the
project's name to see the active Remote systems connected to the project. First time user will
have a link at the bottom that will take you to the activation page, from where the first Remote
system can be activated.
There are some additional help at the main Netbiter online documentation at docs.netbiter.net.

than one tab containing dashboard components.
2.3.2. Device dashboard
Device dashboard
A System dashboard is a graphical representation of parameters configured for a Remote
system.
Please go to Dashboard section in Netbiter documentaion for more information.
It is good practice to use Profile dashboards. This because a Profile dashboard can be shared by
several Remote system. A System dashboard will only be applied to a specific Remote system.
The Profile dashboard will automatically add the dashboard to every Remote system that uses
the Device profile.
2.3.3. Add a dashboard to the account

A dashboard is a graphical representation of parameters available in the Remote system.
There are two types of dashboards:
System dashboard, that is connected only one Remote system only
Profile dashboard, that is connected to a Device profile.

Access level - User that will see the dashboard, the account administrator or user.
Sort priority - The sort order on a Remote system dashboard page.
Dashboard type - System or profile dashboard.
System/Profile - The system or profile that the dashboard should be connected to.
Save - add the dashboard to the account.

2.3.4. Edit a dashboard

about Dashboard properties, and the a Component toolbox to add different Dashboard
components to this specific dashboard.

The Dashboard properties handles the dashboard information, and some settings. To edit this
information click the edit b u t t o n .
Dashboard name - the name that will be displayed as a tab on the Remote system overview page.
Access leve l - Determine if the tab should be displayed for a user. If it is set to a d m i n it will not
be displayed for other user profiles.
Sort priority - The order how the dashboard tabs will be displayed on the Remote system overview
page.
Connected Profiles - If this is a Profile dashboard, the Remote device profiles connected to this
dashboard are listed here. More Remote device profiles can be added, by selecting the Remote
device profile from the list and click the add b u t t o n .
Ok - Save the changes made to the Dashboard properties
Cancel - Abandon the changes made. Note that added Remote device profile will be saved as
s o o n t h e add button is clicked.

Live values can be presented in to two ways Value list or Drawing

Value list can display values from the connected Device profiles. For System dashboards a new
parameter can be added.

In this branch a list of latest logged value and a graph is included.

The page will display every alarm for every Remote system for this project.
It is good practice to let every alarm have a severity class set, to get a better overview and
distribute alarms for further actions.
Project - The alarm belongs to this project.
System - The Remote system that is reporting the alarm.
Source - The name of the parameter of the alarm that has been trigged.
Alarm - Alarm message that is set for this alarm.
Class - Alarm class set. It is used to group alarms for different purpose.
Severity - The severity of the alarm is color coded as following:
- Critical alarm that is active
- Major alarm that is active
- Minor alarm that is active
- Warning that is active
- Alarm with status OK
- An indeterminate alarm where severity isn't set, the default when creating an alarm. It is
good practice to always set an severity to the alarm.
Status - The current status of the alarm.
Active - The alarm is currently active.

OK - The alarm has been trigged, but has returned to normal condition again. The text will be
displayed in green color.
Actions - Following actions can be performed for the alarm entry.
A c k n o w l e d g e m e n t -The alarm is acknowledge, when clicking this link. Depending on the alarm
settings a new occurrence will trigger the alarm again.
R e m o v e - (Adminstrator only) The alarm will be removed from the list. If the alarm is active, it
will show immediately again. Server alarms can't be removed.
Show all - The list will include every alarm, active and none trigged alarms.
Show active - Click this to list active alarms only.

It is good practice to let every alarm have a severity class set, to get a better overview and
distribute alarms for further actions.
Project - The alarm belongs to this project.
System - The Remote system that is reporting the alarm.

The Remote systems can send configured alarms that are set up by the administrator.
Alarm list
This is list over alarms that has been trigged, and when it has returned to normal. The list will
automatically be updated, and at the right there is an indication of the time to next update.
Time - The date an time when the alarm was trigged.

Alarm history
This list can be used to see older, historical, alarms. The alarms can be filtered by date and/or a
specific alarm.
The list can be filtered on the Alarm, and/or start and end date.
At the right the number of alarms per page can be set.
Time- The date an time when the alarm was trigged.
- The class for the alarm will appear when point the mouse at the bubble. The class can be
used to group alarms for different purpose (alarm type, persons o should be notified etc). It
also contains additional information about the alarm, such as value when trigged or
online/offline for Server side alarms.

This page will have an overview for this Remote system. This page will by default display the
latest logged data, and a list of alarms.
Select page panel
Use the drop down box to select if the lastest logged data or live value should be displayed.
When Live value is selected there will be a refresh button at the right to update the values in
the table.
Latest logged data
Name - The name of the parameter that is set to be logged.
Value - the latest logged value for the parameter.
Date logged - Time and date when the parameter was logged.
Live values
Description - The parameters description, as stated when the parameter was created.
Value -
The value for the parameter. Best way to have the correct scaling and offset is to use the
template editor.
Note! For every time the refresh button at the right is pressed there will be data traffic
generated. For Remote system with (mobile communication) subscriptions with a dataplan this
should be.
Active alarms panel

Active alarms for this Remote system are displayed in a list.
Alarms can be acknowledge, if that feature is set for the alarms.
The indication at the upper right shows the time to next update for the alarm list.
Source - The Remote device from where the alarm orginates.
Alarm - The name of the alarm that is trigged.
Time- The date and time when the alarm was trigged.

Map
Displays the Remote system on the a map.
At the left there are map navigation tools, such as zooming and panning the map.
At the upper right corner the map view can be selected to map, satellite and hybrid view.
This page will show all the Remote systems on a map. Depending on the level of zooming, the
Remote System names could be displayed.
Every Remote system gateway will have its status presented as a symbol, with following
description:
3.3.4. Historical data

Historical data
The Remote system can collect data from the Remote devices. This page is used for examine
the data in a trend graph, or download it as an csv-file or xls-file (Excel).
Another way to get a good overview of the data is to create Reports, which will much more
option to group and select different parameters.
1 . This is the end of the available log space. 2 marks the latest available date. This date
change depending on the selection made at point 3-5.
As described in point 6, dates with available log data will be blue, and grey when no data is
available.
2 . The newest data for the selection made.
3 . Quick selection of Last day, Last week o r L a s t m o n t h.
4 . Quick select more than 1, day. 1 week or 1 month.
5 . Select start and end date. Detailed data can only be viewed for one day. Longer periods
will use average data. Due to screen resolution detailed data will be converted to an
average anyway.
6 . Blue marks data stored, and grey where no data is stored. Dark/light blue marks different
days.
7 . Detailed data is stored for this period. Start date for this data is marked to the left., and
end date at maker with number 2.
8 . Green marker displays what days that are selected.
9 . Check box to view average data, and min and max value for every hour.
1 0 . Select the format for the csv-file, comma separated values-file, or select xls for
Microsoft Excel formatted file that can be downloaded.
1 1 . Click this to view a graph with the parameters selected from the panel below.
1 2 . Download the file, of the format selected in the dropdownbox marked 10.

From the parameters list a selection of which parameters that should be included in the graph
or the download file. Large set of data for the graph can make it slower.
Parameter name - Parameter name set when the Remote system is configured.

detailed data is the same as the time period set for the log parameter setting.
Latest detailed data - The latest logged value for this parameter.
Select - mark this if the parameter should be included to the graph or download file.

Clear parameter - Will remove the parameter from the list. Is used to delete parameters that
doesn't exist in the configuration anymore.
Edit parameter - For some products the parameters can be scaled or have an offset before it is
used for a graph or a download file..
Toggle selected - This button will toggle the selection of parameters.
3.3.5. Log trend graph
Log trend graph
This feature requires that the user has JAVA Virtual Machine installed.
By using a left click on the mouse, keep the button down and release it at the diagonal corner
of a box the graph will zoom to that size.
By right clicking and keeping the button down the graph can be moved by moving the mouse.
The arrows will scroll the graph in the direction the arrow is pointing at.
The symbol in the middle of the arrow will reset the view to starting view.
The plus sign (+) is used to zoom in, and the minus (-) to zoom out.
The first three (3) parameters will automatically be displayed in the graph by default.
Parameters can be shown or hidden by clicking the box in front of the parameter name. When a
parameter is shown the line color will have the same color as the box.
To hide a line click the box and it will be grey.
3.3.6. Filearea
Filearea
A storage area for files. Could be documents that belongs to a project. Specifications,
instructions, manuals or configuration files for connected equipment.
The administrator of the account can add files to this area.
3.3.7. Browse devices (administrator only)
Browse devices (administrator only)
A Remote system can include a Remote gateway (Netbiter) and a number of sub devices
connected to the gateway. The sub device can be a Modbus device as one example.
This page makes it possible to browse all parameters that has been defined.
If there is a problem to get the data the input box will be given a pink background. When
hovering the mouse over the input box it will display an error message.

Account information
This tab holds information about the account that is in use at the moment. The account name
is displayed in the upper right corner of the browser window.
Account Level - The account level for this account (Standard/Free).
Number of Projects - Number of projects added to this account.
Number of Active Systems - All active Remote systems that are connected to this account.
Number of Pending Systems - All inactive, pending Remote system for this account.
Number of GPS Tracking Enabled Systems - Displays how many Remote systems in this account that have
GPS tracking enabled.
Number of Users - Number of users this account has.
- The maximum number of log parameters for a Remote system. This will be

- Number of days that detailed data will be saved. This will be depended

This pages will display information about the licensing and subscription used for this account.

As an example there must be a subscription key added to a system if other users than account
administrator should be able to see the remote system.
This page is divided in to two section, where the first lists all available subscription for this
account, and the second how the subscriptions are used for this account.
Subscription key list
Here all subscription keys for this account will be listed. To buy a subscription for the account
go to www.netbiter.com were all local distributors can be found.
To add a subscription key to the list, click the add subscription key button and enter key that was
bought. To use a specific subscription key, click the Select r a d i o b u t t o n .
Subscription key - The subscription key for this row.
Order ref - The order reference entered when the subscription key was bought.
Information- Describes what is included in this subscription key (i.e. period, number of system
that is valid for this key).
Used - Number of used keys / total number of keys, which will show how many subscription
that is available for this key.

Add date - The date when the key were activated.
Select - Click this to mark that this subscription key will be used to deploy it to a Remote system.

All the Remote systems are listed here, and it is easy to overview if there is a subscription key
used for it. To add an subscription key to a Remote system:
1 . Select a subscription key to use, click Select for the key above
2 . Mark the check box for the Remote systems that will have the subscription deployed to it
3 . Click the use subscription key button to deploy the key to the Remote systems
The lists coloumns are:
Device ID - The Remote gateways Device ID, that was supplied with the Remote gateway.
Project - The project which the Remote system belongs to.
Level - The subscription key level for the system.
Activated - Displayes if the Remote system is active to be used in this account.
- The subscription key expiration date. The background is color coded as

Select - Check the Remote systems to which a subscription key will be deployed.

Fields marked with * are required.
Login name* - The name that will be used to login in to the system. The e-mail is a good practice
to use.
Password* - Password. Select a secure password. To generate a password

Repeat password* - Repeat the password.
First name* - The users real first name
Last name* - The users real last name
Company* - The name of the users company
Phone No. - The phone number to the user.

ZIP / Post code - Zip/post code to the address.
City - The city for this address.
State / County - The address state/county

Country - The country for this address.
Language - Select the language from the drop down box.

Two schedules, e-mail and SMS, where green color indicates when messages are sent to this
user.
If the schedule is ignore, there will be a text right under the schedule. Every message with the
severity displayed and higher will be sent at any time.

This section makes it possible to decide when this user will get e-mail or SMS. This is done to
make selection in the schedule, one for e-mail, and one for SMS.
The schedule can be marked in periods of half hours, using the mouse. Areas marked with
green colors will send messages, periods with grey color indicates times when no message is
send.
Click the mouse on the schedule to change the color. If you click the mouse button and drag
the pointer the schedule can be "painted".
Under the schedule there is a selection to override the the settings. If set to anything but N/A
all messages with this severity set, or higher will be sent despite the scheduled time.
4.3.4. List users by project

List users by project
This page lists all project, an for every project all users that has been assigned to that project
will be listed.
Full name - The user's full name. Point with the mouse pointer on the name to see the user name.
Ack alarms - Green check mark if the user has access to acknowledge alarms for this project, red
cross if not.

4.3.5. Delete this user
Delete this user
Delete this user, and all user information will also be deleted.
4.3.6. Validate mobile phone number/e-mail address
Validate mobile phone number/e-mail address
This page is used to validate a phone number or e-mail address that will be used to send
messages from Netbiter Argos to a user.
There is a button called C o n f i r m, that can override the normal validation process. The
recommendation is to not use this button if it is possible.
- Sends a test message to the mobile phone or e-mail address.

for mobile phones: A text message (SMS) is sent to to the phone number. The network will
confirm that the message was sent to that number. Some network operators do not confirm
that the message has been received. In this cases, check that the phone received a text message
(SMS) and then click the Confirm button on the page to manually validate the phone number.
for e-mail address: An e-mail is sent to the address. Validate the e-mail address by clicking
the link in that mail.
4.3.7. Administrate device templates
Administrate device templates
At this page the Remote device templates are administrated. Device templates can be created,
uploaded and edited.
A Remote device template describes the parameters available in the Remote device. This
template can be used for more than one Remote device of the same type. If a parameter is
changed in the Device template, every Remote device that uses the template will have the
changed deployed after a synchronization of the Remote system.
This makes it easier add new Remote systems (with the same type of Remote devices
connected) to the account, and maintain parameter settings even if there are several Remote
systems.
Device profile is used to have the same management for visualization, log, alarm parameters.
For more help about parameter settings, check the Netbiter Argos documentation.
4.3.8. User lists and setting
User lists and setting
At this menu all settings for different user can be viewed and edited. There are three tabs:
All users, which lists all users for this account
User by project, that will display alla users available for each project
Add user, where a new user for the account can be added.
All users list
This page lists all users for this account. To view detailed information about a specific user,
click on that users row.
User name - The user name for this user.
Full name - Full name, first name and last name for this user.
Valid mobile- If the mobile number for this user is valid a green check mark will show, otherwise
a gray cross. To validate a mobile number , click on the users row, and in the next page click the
t a b Edit user and enter a mobile phone number to validate.
Valid E-mail - If the e-mail address for this user is valid a green check mark will show, otherwise
a gray cross. To validate an e-mail address, click on the users row, and in the next page click
t h e t a b Edit user and enter an e-mail address to validate.
Last online - Displays the date and time when this user last were logged in.
4.4. External data access

4.4.1. Create a RSS feed
Create a RSS feed
A RSS feed can be used to distribute alarm history to a RSS reader.
When a RSS feed is added, there will be a a RSS feed icon at the end of the row. Click that
symbol to open it in a new window and add the URL to your RSS reader.

Account - All Remote systems in a account will be included in the RSS feed
Project - Select the project that will be included in the RSS feed
User - Will only include content that a specific user has rights to display.
Information - Will give information about the Remote system, project or user for the type key
seleceted
Key - The key that is used to connect to the specific RSS-feed
Whitelist - marks that whitelist is use, and if not.
Active - If the RSS feed is active or not.
Action -Tools to make changes to setting on this row:
Edit - This will get to a page where the whitelist settings can be edited. The use of whitelist can
be started/stopped.
If the whitelist is in use you need to approve the IP addresses that will get access to the RSS
feed. To approve an IP address, access the RSS-feed URL from the computer/device that
should be granted, go to this page and click approve at the end of the row where the IP address
is displayed. Check that the time of latest use is correct.
- Right click this icon and select copy to get the RSS feed URL.
Add a new key
Add - This button will open a page where settings for a new RSS feed can be added.
- Set the source of the RSS feed

Account - All Remote systems in a account will be included in the RSS feed
Project - Select the project that will be included in the RSS feed
User - Will only include content that a specific user has rights to display.
Project - If the key type is project, select the project that will generate the RSS feed
User - If the key type is User, select the user that will generate the RSS feed
- There can be a whitelist used to verify that user connect from valid IP-address. For
Use whitelist
RSS feed this is common, because you would like to be able to connect from devices where the
IP-address change over time.
Save - Creates the new RSS feed key.
General settings
This setting makes it possible for a user to self add a RSS feed. There will be a RSS feed icon
at the bottom of the presentation page, when clicked it will create a RSS feed user key that
will be listed in RSS feed list. There will not be an whitelist activated for this kind of
automatically generated user key.
Allow user to create alarm RSS - Yes will add an icon at the bottom of the page, an No will remove it.
4.4.2. Web services for external access to Netbiter Argos data
Web services for external access to Netbiter Argos data
The web services API for Netbiter Argos makes it possible for users to write custom websites or
applications that collect information from systems connected to Netbiter Argos. Examples of
this can be application specific user interfaces and presentation of data to end-users of the
system. The web services simplifies the task to read out application specific data from a remote
system or machine and hides the complexity of the underlying addressing and low-level
protocols used in the process.
Web services only works for non-free Netbiters.
How to use web services can be read in Netbiter Argos web services API Programming Guide.
5. Reports
5.1. Create a report
Account administrators can create reports. There are a number of different reports for
different needs.
Select the report type that should be generated, and click n e x t, an d the page for report settings
will show. There will be two parts of settings, Report settings and some settings that is only
available for the report type selected.
Detailed information of some reports
Account report
Get an overview of the projects, users an Remote systems for the account.
Online report
This report view the online history for every Remote system for an account. It will be shown in
a chart and text data.
Export data report
This report type will export data as one zip-file, there every selected Remote system will
included as a Excel formatted file.
Energy report
Graph and data lists of energy consumption . Handles different tariffs. Based on the
consumption report.
Tank volume report
Data lists and graphs suited for tank volumes.
Temperature report
Temperature graphs, and data of minimum, maximum and average values, which is based on
the trend report.
Consumption report
Graph and data lists of consumption . Handles different tariffs.
Trend report
Trend graphs, and data of minimum, maximum and average values.
Compare report
In this report some calculation of parameters can be made.
5.2. Report settings
Report settings
First section includes general settings for this report, and the second settings for the report
type selected.
Genral settings
Report name - The name of the report. Use a describing name, and let it be unique.
- How often this report should be generated. If once, it will just be generated one
Scheduled interval
time. To run it again, just copy it.
- Sets the read rights for this report. If set to a project, everyone with access to the
Assign project
project can access the reports. If set to No project only the account administrator.
Notify by e-mail - An e-mail will be sent to the account administrator when the report has been
generated.
5.3. Generated reports

Generated reports
This page lists all reports that has been generated. To create a new report click Create report
tab.
Generated reports list
Create date - The date when this report was created.
Report type - The type of the report selected. More information about the types when creating the
report.
Report name - The name set for this report. Newly updated reports will be displayed in bold.
Period - Time period for included data for this report.
Download -Will display a link for generated reports. Click the link to open/download the report
as a pdf-file.
- The status of the report. Wait for reports that will be run later, and done if the report is
Status
ready. If the text is in bold, it is newly updated.
Action -
Action that can be performed for this report:
Copy - Will run the report again, with a new set of data. This is most useful for reports that
only run once.
Cancel - If a report is running right now, or waiting to run, it can be canceled.
Delete - Will remove the report from the account.
