position starting in the fall of 2018. I am interested in the opportunity to teach at my alma
mater. Dubuque Senior and its staff influenced me to appreciate every learning opportunity
I encounter and to continue to push forward in the face of adversity. The positive culture I
experienced both as a student, as well as a student teacher have drawn me to a desire
return to the home of the mighty Rams.
I am a hardworking, positive individual who strongly believes in teamwork. As a coach, I
understand the value of teamwork and believe that I can be a team player within the
Dubuque Senior team. I have a growth mindset and believe that failure is an opportunity in
which I can learn from. During my student teaching experience, I learned much more from
my failures in the classroom than I did my successes. I used failure as an opportunity to
grow as an individual and as an educator. If I had a lesson that was not strong, I would use
that as an opportunity to reflect and brainstorm by myself or with a colleague ways to
come back and present that lesson in a more effective manner. During my time as a student
teacher at Dubuque Senior High school I have effectively and efficiently managed and
organized classrooms, implemented and utilized various modes of instructional strategies,
such as Teaching by Writing and established strong rapport with my colleagues and
students.
