Since many years many LRT operators use our almost maintenance free track system INPLACE. The
advantage of our system is it can be adopted to any local situation. It will be executed either as a
monolithic panel or plinth which will be the basis of:
a classical grass track or
a closed track with concrete bricks or asphalt surface
Even for the execution of track lines with combined different gauges or cross-over of tracks the system
INPLACE will be installed in the meantime.
For track renewal or closing of track during possession we developed a special TRAVETTO-
prefabricated track panel which guarantees a fast execution with a fixed gauge. The panels will be
prefabricated using a special shuttering system which allows for the prefabrication of different track
geometries.

TRAVETTO can install the track itself or provide the relevant special tools and equipment for the track
installation as well as the instruction to enable local contractors to perform the work.
TRAVETTO is also the competent partner for the realisation of any special form of slab track in
industrial plants.

The TRAVETTO-INPLACE system


is a monolithic slab track system
with in situ concrete construction.
The concrete-sleeper componets
are imbedded in concrete of the
slab track in accordance with the
top down method and by means
of a special track adjusting
system.

Due to the top down method


developed by TRAVETTO the great
number of measuring processes of
conventional constructions is reduced
to one single adjusting measurement
of the track panel when starting the
construction process.
For the track laying it is possible to
take the measurement directly at the
rail. By means of the track adjusting
system TRAVETTO the gauge and
rail inclination are definitely adjusted
and guarantee a maximum of laying
and installation precision.

Due to the monolithic construction


the TRAVETTO-INPLACE system allows
to optimise the reinforcement of the
Longitudinal concrete beams or the
concrete plate and to adapt it to the
local conditions. Spacing joints and fitting
pieces are no longer necessary.
It is possible to use different rail bedding
systems without additional drilling of the
concrete beams which safely and reliably
excludes a damage to the reinforcement
and consequently a decisive weakening
of the reinforcement.

This optimized type of construction


implies considerably shorter
construction periods and this in
return allows a remarkable reduction
of pollution nuisance and physical
impact at the site an important
argument for the project work and
realization of such traffic routes.

It will of course always be possible


to produce a continuous concrete
slab track (for instance in crossing
sections) instead of parallel
longitudinal concrete beams (plinths).
This allows to build-in all kinds of
track coverings such as poured
asphalt, pavement or even
elevated gras. In addition,
this construction will increase the
variability and adaptability
even with difficult track geometry:
Curved tracks with R = 25 m are
no problem at all.

Installation of the system, prelimery works


Execution of the sub-base
Placing the required reinforcement according to the statical calculations
Eventually installation of components against leakage of currents
Erection of gantries
Posting of the sleeper component onto the reinforcement
Assembling of the cover of the foot of rails
Laying and fastening of the rails with the cover of the foot of rails to the
gantries
Fastening of the sleeper component to the rails
Adjustment of the track into the final position
Assembly of the shuttering system and regulation of the pouring height
with the adjustable upper part of the shuttering
Eventually installation of a gauge securing beam in case of plinths
Pouring the concrete of the track slab respectively the plinths
Welding of rails, if necessary with stressing
Installing of rail filler elements for gras track or tracks with brick layer

Installation of the system, surface works

In case of gras with concrete plinths:


eventually placing of soil as filler between the plinths

In case of gras whit concrete or slab:


Placing of a separating textile placing of soil and distributing
the gras seeds

In case of covered track for combined road / rail-traffic:


Pouring of filler concrete or bitumen layer between the track
Installation of the final asphalt surface

The slab track system TRAVETTOINPLACE allows for many designs of the
finished surface.
Different cross sections either as green track with gras or as continuous
concrete slab are possible. Also the combined use of track related and
individual vehicles can be offered by the installation as slab track with
bituminous or brick surface.

Since 2000 the system TRAVETTO-INPLACE is service proven and used by


operators like in Bielefeld, Frankfort, Stuttgart and Gera with success.
In 2005 the system INPLACE will be installed in Hanover as the only slab
track system over a length of 8.6 km, a major investment of a complete new
public LRT line.

The slab track system TRAVETTO-INPLACE offers operators of LRT-systems


a high value (low inspection and maintenance and long service life).

The track system TRAVETTO-INPLACE fulfils the following requirements:

Exact alignment by installation of a special track adjustment system
using the top down method

Safe and low maintenance rail anchoring by workshop produced
sleeper component (high density concrete) and standardised rail

Optimal stray current insulation by use of polyurethane-rail filling
elements and special prevention measures against stray current in the
in situ concrete (stray current reinforcement, earthing elements etc.)
Minimising vibration by elastic rail beds in continuously elastic and
electrical insulated rail foot profiles
