Talking about CHINA , SINGAPURE AND BRAZIL

DAYNA: Good afternoon, Brith

BRITH: Good afternoon, Dayna How are you?

DAYNA: I am fine thank you, and you?

BRITH: I am fine also, Thank you. So, How about your business travel ?

DAYNA: well, I was thinking to go to China, Brazil and Singapore these countries
are good for import clothes, technology and make up but my mostly problem is
that I do not know anything about their culture and how could I behave and
introduce to them, at the same time I do not know what language they speak.

BRITH: Do not worry, I can help you I have been in China and Singapore and
these countries have very different culture about language do not worry
Singapore people can speak English but you need to have a translator in China
and Brazil because they do not speak English that is the problem .

DAYNA: Oh! You are right.

BRITH: Do we have some customers in these countries?

DAYNA: Yes, this is the reason because I want to go to these countries, I was
talking to them just on Skype and E-mail.

BRITH: So, I am going to tell you how is the Singapore people and how you can
talk to them correctly.

DAYNA: Go ahead

BRITH: Well I am going to tell you as presented and greet in Singapore, to shake
hands to meet and also often greet with a small courtly bow. Singaporeans are
treated with formality so you also must do the same , by exchanging the cards
should be offered and received with your both hands , by the way you know to
respect to appointments and agreed times , Peruvian people always arrived a
little late , you have a point less in favor , because being late for an appointment
or meet is considered rude and it is better arrived early or on time.
9
DAYNA: you are right I will have to get used to not be late as they are meetings.

BRITH: regarding about meetings largely are very quickly , they are very direct
when talking and if it is comes about money , people dress conservatively ,
especially in the field of business also you should not be directly in a
disagreement with someone of higher rank than you , this is considered rude

DAYNA: and with regard to meals, they also use wood sticks like a Chinese

BRITH: hahaha yes , you are right they generally use Asian covered , So you
must get used to and one more things they use their right hand to spend some
object dont use the lefty hand this because most of them are Islamic .

DAYNA: I did not anything of this, about their culture and meetings now I have
to make a big impression as to my future customer.

BRITH: yes, thats right, well now we lets talk about Brazil, we need to learn
everything about this culture.

DAYNA: I think they have the same culture that us

BRITH: you are right, but many of them are open mind, so Peruvian people arent
open mind.

DAYNA: yeah, but tell me about how I can treat to them?

BRITH: okay listen , Brazil people are recognized worldwide for being warm and
friendly , they usually stay close when they are talking to a person and often
touching their culture is almost similar to us , about greetings the women should
greet with light kiss on the cheek , and men tend to shake hand

DAYNA: for me the most important thing is about if I can be late for appointments

BRITH: sure , because the hours are often flexible and business meetings can
start later than agreed , however , it is best arrive early to be sure.

DAYNA: So, only I have to coordinate well with my customer at the time of the
appointment.

10
BRITH: Sure although Brazil has a large number of holidays, national days and
a generous amount of vacation days.

DAYNA: wow thats great! Maybe we will move to Brazil for vacations and
holidays

BRITH: thats right but keep in mind that Brazilians are sociable and prefer face
to face communication rather than by phone or email, personal relationships are
very important in the Brazilian business context, so that the conversation can
sometimes diverted to issues that are often uncomfortable such as talk about
your private life.

DAYNA: I cannot believe it, then I have to prepared for this meeting

BRITH: with about dinner, usually take hours because no hurry to eat quickly.

DAYNA: so I can enjoy and meet better to my customer, however Singapore

and Brazil are very different I have to get used to this change.

BRITH: sure, but the next country is one of the best countries in which things
can be imported with a lower price.

DAYNA: I know is it China

BRITH: yes, this country is characterized as the economic boom in ASIA

DAYNA: so tell me about that culture, presentation and meetings

BRITH: Chinese people are shake hands to meet, usually with slight bowing like
a Singapore People, they are taken into account and the age and rank are
respected. Most of them are presented with all their titles and the name of their
company and you should do the same.

DAYNA: it seems to be a little easier to talk to them.

BRITH: I do not think , with respect to appointments must be very punctual , but
if you arrived very early dinner is a signal that you are hungry and always
considered impolite you should arrive five minutes before the time agree.

DAYNA: I feel like If I confront to several cultures only for business

11
BRITH: yes I think so, but remember Chinese culture is very quiet as such ,
Chinese may look different at professional meetings , and the meetings are
always highly structured and therefore its considered impolite to interrupt.

DAYNA: but if I am a bite disagrees, couldnt interrupt?

BRITH: Of course! , you cannot it because the Chinese are always aware of the
status and you have to respect the order of the seats.

DAYNA: Okay well tell me about food, so how I should behave

BRITH: Chinese are very hospitable and generous even in business, because
this gesture should take back.

DAYNA: so if they come to Peru, I need to same

BRITH: Of course!

DAYNA: thank you about this tips!

BRITH: do not worry, we can learn about these countries and we have a good
relationship with them.

INTRODUCTION TO THE COMPANY

NAME OF THE COMPANY: WARI URPI E.I.R.L

RUBRIC: HANDICRAFT

ITEMS: productos para decoracin de interiores

ADRESS: Jr. Tacna # 102 San Juan Bautista - Ayacucho

Macedonio Palomino, master weaver and teacher, founded the company

Artesanias WARI URPI in 2004. Together with his wife Luzmila Huarancca, a
highly talented embroiderer, he provides training and dignified jobs for more than
300 artisans in 12 native communities in rural Ayacucho, a region in Perus
central Andes.

The artisans belong to the Wari culture that flourished between 800 and 1 100
AD. They are weavers and embroiderers of handmade traditional textiles with the
art and skills inherited through the ages from cultures dating back some 2,700
years.

Hand woven textiles are made on pedal looms primarily from alpaca and sheep
wool, although they may also be made with cotton fibers. The finished product is
hand embroidered with decorative motifs inspired by nature, depicting local flora
and fauna, hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Natural dyes are extracted from
various local plants such as walnut ( browns), molle (greens), chilca ( yellows). In
addition to the muted elegant tones of natural dyes, Wari Urpi has also introduced
commercial dyes due to their widespread availability and diverse color palette.

Wari Urpi is dedicated to preserving its native culture, which differs from that of
other pre-Columbias cultures in Peru. Taking advantage of the remarkable skills
of its artisans, Wari Urpi has developed a range of handmade products such as
pillow covers, table runners, tapestries, handbags, belts, curtains, and other
products. As a result of their business, Macedonio and Luzmila are helping
improve the quality of life for Wari Urpi artisans in a region that suffered greatly
during the conflict with Shining path in the 1980s, while at the same time working
to maintain ancient traditions and conserve the environment.
