education
We are now four years away from Wawasan 2020, a concept first unveiled by
former prime minister Datuk Seri (now Tun) Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1991. The
main thrust of this concept is that the nation should achieve developed country
status in its own mould by the year 2020.

Several strategic challenges were outlined in which Malaysia needed to

overcome in order to achieve Wawasan 2020. Cementing the nations role
as a leading higher education provider is one of these challenges. And over
the years, we have seen a proliferation of postgraduate studies being offered
in the nation. Not just in terms of quantity where there are more universities
and institutions offering postgraduate studies but in terms of quality where
the programmes available will offer Malaysians a broader sense of the global
world as well as access to world-class education spearheaded by renowned
institutions and key personnel.

It is safe to say that postgraduate studies in Malaysia have taken on a new wave
and GRADUAN EDUCATION is proud to be a part of this dynamic progress
that is happening in Malaysias higher education sector. As per all our other
titles in the GRADUAN family, our focus is on providing insightful, useful
information that will guide our readers towards making the right decisions
about their education choices.

Through GRADUAN EDUCATION, we bring you a wealth of information as

well as professional tips from those who are part of this exciting movement.
Heres to the first step in making a difference to your life, and the first step to
contributing to the nations success and journey towards Wawasan 2020.

French government grants, grants by the government of a native country or aid
from international and non-governmental organisations, although the options for
international students are much less. These grants and scholarships cover partial or
full expenses of attending college, but the lower cost of attending university in France
as compared to other countries in Europe helps make up for the lack of available
financial aid.

Application Procedures: Malaysian students who would like to study in France

can apply via application forms found on the website of the college of their choice.
Print and fill up the form, and mail it to the college with documentations required
to be considered for admission into the college, including a copy of your passport,
a passport-sized photograph, as well as proof that you have a visa if your course is
longer than three months. A proof of English proficiency (TOEFL) is also required.
Some colleges may require a written essay to support your application.

Visa Requirements: If youre attending a programme that is longer than 90 days,

you need to apply for an extended-stay visa with residency permit (VLS-TS) from
the French consular authority with your intention to attend college in France as the
desired reason for the visa. Make sure you have all the documents that are needed
and submit them with the application as well as the payment. Do this as quickly as
possible as it can take up to two months for a visa application to be approved.

Studying at IIUM brought an added value to my professional life. The courses were very interesting
and the professors were highly qualified. The small size of the classes allowed the use of better
learning methods, which also implied a better atmosphere.

Abdel Wajib, Saudi Arabia

My experience at IIUM was very beneficial to me. The knowledge I gained there was both theoretical
and practical, transmitted by professors who are expert in their field and who prepared me perfectly
well to the business world.

Studying MBA at Putra Business School was exciting as well as challenging for me. The
best part was the philosophy of Human Governance embedded in all the courses, making
me more conscious about human values in business. Moreover, I enjoyed the very interactive
and rich communication with my course mates as well as professors and the collaboration
between academics and industry people in the form of industrial talk and networking days.

Rana Mohsin Ali

I began my MBA study with Putra Business School (PBS) in 2013. I am happy to say that I have
not regretted in my choice and PBS has stayed true to its recognition and accreditations.
The programme was well structured and taught using a mix of both academic and
industry experts. The learning was enhanced by a great group of friends from various work
background and nationalities. Eventually, it leads to lifelong friendships. The programme
was indeed rigorous and challenging; however, with the right attitude, perseverance and
determination one will succeed. For all those seeking to further their studies at an institute
that upholds human values and teaching methods essential to shape them in preparation
for their future, PBS is the right choice.
Reanu Chelladurai

Great place to be if you are serious about improving yourself. Amazing faculty members
who always have the time to share with you. Efficient and generous administration -
sponsoring us to compete in competitions overseas.

When I first registered for a MBA programme in PBS, I was thinking just to fulfil one of my
milestones in life after having worked for almost 20 years. When I was really into it, I found
it a great experience, with memorable and interesting interactions with the professors and
course mates. I enjoyed the process throughout the MBA programme in PBS. Though it
was really tiring as I was a part-time student then, I looked forward to attend the class. I
enjoyed the moment with a very strong back to school feeling, just like the good old days
in university. The MBA programme in PBS may not change much of my career path for the
time being, but it did change some of my way of handling my day-to-day activities. It is
indeed a very good start for a postgraduate programme.
