Hope all of our readers had a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving. It went by so fast and now the Christmas Season is upon us.
Let us not get caught up in the web of retail advertising and forget the true meaning of the season. Your annual Christmas
Party at the club is a great place to spend an evening with friends and family and celebrate the festive part of the season. All
information has been posted in the November newsletter, online email, as well as, our clubs website. Hope to see you on
Dec. 9th.
A reminder to newsletter ad subscribers, the 2018 bills have been sent out along with sections for changes and/or additions to
your ads. Please respond as soon as possible so as to allow us to lay out the newsletter pages and add the new subscribers. For
those of you who have already returned your responses, THANK YOU, your continued support is greatly appreciated.
Remember the Annual Membership Meeting will be held on the last Sunday in January (Jan. 28th). Your annual dues of $225
are due at that time. Our Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer will be at the club earlier to collect and record your payments.
Please be sure to discuss any issues concerning back dues as well as current dues so arrangements can be made to keep all
members in good standing. Finally, your Board of Directors will be chosen as well as any vacancies filled, if you are
interested in a position contact any elected officer or board member.

A great big thank you to Jimmy Glynn III and Vin DiGilio and their crew for running a very enjoyable and successful
Monday Night Football event, nothing but good things were said about the dinners as well as the way the event was run.

Welcome and congratulations to Nidal EL Khoury of Danbury on accepting to serve on the Board. He was sworn in at the
board meeting on November 14th. Mr. Khoury has been a member of the Club for the past 10 years. During this time, he has
supported the club events, and he continues to serve on the Teachers Exchange program committee for professional
development and cultural awareness between greater Danbury area schools and the International College (I.C.) in Lebanon.
He is an IT professional at the Morganti company and a long-time member of St. George Orthodox Church in Danbury.
Welcome and congratulations to 2 new members who joined our club, and were sworn in at the bi-weekly Club meeting on
November 28th - Dikran Yapoujian and Jesse Critelli. They are long time residence of Bethel and Danbury and they were
sponsored by Tony Haddad and Eli Khoury respectively.
Congratulations to several members of our club and the Ladies Auxiliary on their election on November 7 for public service
in various capacities at town or city government of area towns, with many having served multiple terms. They are from:
Danbury: Danny Jowdy, City Treasurer; Tom Saadi and Vinny DiGilio City Council;
Miland David, Ted Haddad, and Rick Jowdy Zoning
Bethel: Louis David, Inland Wetlands Commission

Regrettable News:
Our sincere condolences and sympathy to Farid Khouri and his family on the passing of his father Lafy Khoury 91,
of Danbury who passed away at the hospital after suffering from a stroke recently, on Tuesday November 14.
May he rest in peace!

COMMENTS:
1. SINCERE SYMPATHY to Farid Khouri, his wife Laila and his children on the recent passing of Farids father, Lafy
Khoury. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. May his dad rest in peace.
2. SINCERE SYMPATHY to David and Christine Cappiello, their sons, Jack and Jude and their entire extended family on
the recent passing of Christines dear dad, John Ciarleglio. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
3. DUE to the many events in December, there will be no LAX meeting this month.
4. LAC ANNUAL RAFFLE is now in full swing. You have a chance to win the top prize of $10,000 with an additional
five $1,000 prizes also to be awarded. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Drawing is December 16th. Contact Billy Asmar
for your tickets.
5. THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the LAX nominating committee, which consisted of Betty Najm, Stacey Hardway,
Theresa Hanna and Nada Zarrini for their terrific job in helping us form our new slate of officers, who will begin a 2 year
term in January 2018. Voting will take place at the January meeting, with the announcement of the names submitted.
6. PLEASE NOTE that we are now collecting raffle prizes for our upcoming Christmas Party to be held on December 9th.

4. Friday, December 29th @ 7:00 PM, St. George will host its Holiday Get Together @ the church hall. Music by Nadim
Bourjaili with a delicious Middle Eastern Dinner being served. BYOB. Cost/$35 adults. Children under 10 years of

5. Saturday, January 6th @ 12 noon to 4:00 PM, the Ladies Auxiliary will hold its Annual Christmas Luncheon @ Black
Anguss private room. Cost is $28 per person which includes food, (a menu with 3 choices), soft drinks, tax and
gratuity. Alcoholic beverages are separate. The alternate date, in case of bad weather, is Saturday, January 27 th. In
addition, the telephone committee will be contacting all members well in advance of the event. See details on page 5.
