Context
Teaching students at elementary school from different demographics to help them better understand food and
how to form a healthier relationship with food by substituting unhealthy ingredients with healthier
ingredients, and that food is not supposed to be forbidden, because there is always a way to eat what we love
the most.

Unit Title: Nutrition for a Healthy Lifespan

Unit Overview: this unit is made to teach students about different lessons from natural sugar to processed
food, from healthy balanced meals to unhealthy fast food. This unit will help children form a healthier
relationship with food and will hopefully make a lasting positive impact on their health on the future.

Standards/Established Goals
Students will be able to understand the importance of natural sugar, balanced meals, fruits and
vegetables, and healthy to-go food.

Overview: Children will understand the pros and cons of both natural and processed sugar and will be able to
apply the lesson to their daily life, and will even explain the information to their family and peers that were
not in class with them during the lesson.

Overview: Students will get to know their fruits and vegetable, thus, encouraging them to incorporate more
