Location

I did my initial presentation in a fifth-grade classroom at Tierra Antigua Elementary

School. My presentation was on overall wellness with an initial focus on Nutritional Wellness. I

have mapped out the next five moths focusing on overall wellness and the components that go

along with it. Each month we will review overall wellness and focus on one type of wellness (i.e.

physical, intellectual etc.). The lessons will be taught in the classroom. Any physical activity that

is incorporated into the lessons will be supervised and safety measures will be in place, as well as

modifications for individuals who are physically or mentally disabled. I will be sure to prepare

before presenting these lessons, to reduce any stress or anxiety, and to ensure that I am teaching

the kids accurate information that will be useful to them. I will use the following references to

prepare my lessons:

Reflection

I am excited to teach the children about the different aspects of wellness. The first presentation I gave,

we focused on nutritional wellness and I was only able to briefly introduce the idea of overall wellness. I have

planned out my lessons so that we are able to focus on one type of wellness each month. At the beginning of

each lesson we will have a brief review on the previous types of wellness we have learned about. Each lesson

will consist of a PowerPoint presentation as well as a brain break activity at the beginning. At the end of each

lesson, the class will pair up and reflect upon what we just learned and we will end the lesson with an open

discussion on what wellness is and how we can enhance overall wellness. I know that doing this can cause a

certain amount of stress, but I have thought about that and ways to combat it. I will ensure that I am prepared

and that I talk to the teacher before my presentation each month. I will ensure that everything that I plan on

teaching is relevant and applicable to children who are in fifth grade. Overall, I am excited and think that

everything will come together and the children will be excited about what I have to teach them.
