IV. CD-ROM CONTENTS
**********************************

The contents of this CD are intended for standalone use.

--MODULES
Chapter Modules 1 through 6 are provided as .pdf files on this CD-ROM. Adobe Reader
is required to open these files. To obtain the free Reader, visit Adobe Systems'
Web site at http://www.adobe.com and look for the download page for the free
Reader. During installation from the Install screen on this CD, Module files
extract to the default directory, C:\QAM9\Modules.

--QM FOR WINDOWS

To install QM for Windows (version 2.2), click on QM for Windows from the Install
screen. The program will install to C:\Program Files\QMWin32. An on-screen
installation wizard is provided; you will be asked if files should be backed up.
This is a good idea. After installatio, a program group will be created in the
Windows > Start menu.

Registration

At installation you will be asked to register. You must enter a name and this name
cannot be changed later. This software is customized to the content in your
Prentice-Hall textbook. The customization includes notation and model availability.

Potential Problems

Unfortunately there are some problems that may arise when installing Windows
programs. To avoid these problems during installation, be sure to close all
applications including such innocent looking items as a clock or any virus
protection programs.

If while you are installing you get a message stating that a program is currently
in use you may probably respond by pressing ignore. However, write down the name of
the program. The installation program will not install a new version of this
program.

--EXCEL QM
ExcelQM 2 is a Microsoft Excel add-in. There are a few different ways that Excel
QM can be started after you have installed it from the CD's Install menu to your
computer's hard drive. You must have Excel 2000, 2002, or 2003 installed on your
computer.

ExcelQM installs to the directory C:\Program Files\ExcelQM2. There are a few ways
to start this program.
1) Click the Excel QM shortcut icon on the desktop.
2) Click on the Excel QM item in the Excel QM program group to launch Excel with
Excel QM loaded.
3) With Microsoft Excel open, open the file C:\Program Files\ExcelQM2\Excelqm.xla
to start this add-in.

It is possible (though not recommend) to set up Excel so that Excel QM

automatically loads every time that Excel loads. In order to do this simply use
Tools, Addins, Browse; find ExcelQM.xla in the directory and click OK.

Please note that this product and the Crystal Ball addin (by Decisioneering, Inc.)
do not coexist well. Do not have both loaded at the same time.
