Saliva by Surface-Enhanced
Raman Spectroscopy
Kathryn Dana, Chetan Shende, Hermes Huang & Stuart Farquharson
JABT, Vol. 6, Issue 6 (2015)
All saliva samples yielded true positives for cocaine while some urine
and serum samples had undetectable concentrations of cocaine
Investigating the potential of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy
(SERS) to both identify and quantify drugs of interest and their
metabolites in an oral fluid matrix
The plug was allowed to gel and cure, then the incorporated gold or
silver ions were reduced by flowing 5 mL of 0.1M NaBH through the
capillary.
Saliva samples
The UCT C8+SCX column which retains analytes with both neutral and
amine functional groups but passes analytes with carboxylate
functional groups, was therefore used for pretreatment in all
subsequent experiments
Variation of pH of 1 g/mL cocaine
samples by adding dilute HCl or
NaOH to yield pH of 3, 7, and 11.
