1. SCOPE

1.1. The scope of this document is to provide the necessary information for the
protection, preservation and packaging activities relevant to the products of
Officine Ambrogio Melesi & C. S.r.l., in order to assure that the product be
preserved till delivery to the intended destination.

3. ACTIVITIES

3.1. The Packaging & Despatching Manager is responsible for the implementation of
this procedure on the the Officine Ambrogio Melesi & C. S.r.l. products.

3.2. After the final inspection of the product, it shall be cleaned by wiping with a cloth
and, if necessary, cloth moistened with solvent, or acetone, in order to remove oil or
grease.

3.3. Product shall be hard stamped, as specified by the Work Traveler (MSQ 030); if not
differently indicated the stamps shall be at least with nosed edges.

3.4 Protection
3.4.1 Except product of austenitic and ferritic-austenitic (Duplex, Superduplex) stainless
steels, super alloys and non ferrous materials, all the products shall be protected by
using one of the following alternative products:
- Protective Black (Nero Protettivo) Grigna Color, Cod. 26.01.136, or equivalent.

3.4.2 The product shall be dipped into the protective by using the relevant hooks, or
covered by protective by means of a paint brush; the protective coating shall be let
dry; if necessary a drying furnace can be used at a temperature of about 50C.
3.4.3 The protective coating can be removed by solvent.

3.4 Preservation
3.4.1 At this manufacturing stage the preservation of products shall be on pallets or
directly on the shelves, in closed and covered areas.

3.5 Packaging
3.5.1 The flanges shall be carefully packed in substantial, closed wooden boxes in such a
manner so that they cannot impact on each other during transit.
3.5.2 All boxes shall be internally lined on all lateral wall and top by polyetilene sheet to
prevent ingress of salt spry or moisture.
3.5.3 The boxes shall be fork lift handleable.
3.5.4 Bevels and facings shall be protected in such a way that be not damaged during the
transport.
3.5.5 Between different layers of products the following shall be placed:
- wooden battons, in case of heavy products (e.g. flanges >200kg)
- a hardboard ply of 4mm thickness, or a pluriball sheet in case of light products
3.5.6 Packing must be sufficient strength to enable stacking of similar size and weight.

3.6 Preservation
3.6.1 At this manufacturing stage the preservation of products shall be in covered areas
(penthouse) or for a period shorter than four weeks in open areas.
