Statement of Future Plans

Throughout my life, I have always had a general idea of what I wanted to do in the future.

I have narrowed down my plans and focused on a specific route during my years of high school.

Anything that has to do with air and space has always been one of my favorite hobbies and

things to learn about. After dreaming of becoming a pilot and then taking many engineering

classes, I realized that I want to pursue a path in Aerospace Engineering.

Throughout high school, I have constantly taken advantage of the educational

opportunities to prepare me for college. Buckingham has a STEM pathway that I took full

advantage of, leading me to take as many of these classes as possible. This year will be my

fourth year of engineering and, fortunately for me, Aerospace Engineering is being offered. I

also took advantage of the free classes at Solano Community College to get a year ahead in math,

allowing me to take Calculus AB by my junior year of high school. I am proficient at math, but

Calculus was by far one of the most challenging classes I have ever taken. However, I

understand that I will be taking many similarly challenging classes when majoring in

engineering, and that class has prepared me very well. After using every opportunity given to

me wisely, I know that I will be well equipped for whatever college throws at me.

Since I have a passion for aerospace, I have done countless activities that can relate to it.

I have taken an engineering class every year at high school which helped me gain knowledge of

the career I am preparing for. One of my passions for aerospace is exemplified by the fact that I

fly airplanes am also a student pilot. I trained to fly a plane in the fall of 2016, and was sixteen

years old when I flew solo for the first time. Robotics has also been a huge influence on my life.

I joined the team my ninth grade year and ran for Vex Coordinator the year after, where I

eventually led a group of robotics members to State Championships. The next year I decided to

run for president and also won that election. I ended up being the first robotics president to lead

our team to world championship where only 400 teams out of thousands get to compete. While

in Robotics, I learned many things related to STEM such as engineering processes and I gained a

lot of leadership strength.

Along with many STEM experiences, I have an array of others that will help me be

successful in college. I have been in student council since eleventh grade. At the end of junior

year, I was elected to be the Associated Student Body President for the 2017-18 school year.

This will help me be successful by knowing how to take initiative on things that need to be done,

and done the right way. I have been playing on our high schools varsity golf team since my

freshman year. Besides robotics, I attend several other clubs such as, National Honors Society,

and California Scholarship Federation. I also have gone through high school career with a 3.97

GPA total and I have worked very hard to maintain this. I will be trying just as hard to maintain

an excellent academic grade in college.

After finding my future career in aerospace, I am more than excited for what the future

holds for me. I am certain that with all the work done and goals achieved at Buckingham, I will

be ready to walk right into college ready to continue my challenging path I have chosen. I know

that I have been set up perfectly for my plans in life, thanks to my high school.
