Dear Dr. Bruce,

Entering this class my main focus was to improve my technical writing skills. at the
beginning of the semester you provided us with a student learning outcomes (SLO) that we were
expected to master by the end of the semester. Throughout the semester, you challenged us with
different assignments, and showed us a variety of activities to further our skills as writers to
achieve the mastery of the SLOs. This cover letter is a perfect guide to demonstrate that I have
perfected these SLOs categories at the best of my abilities, with my previous work and through
my improvements. The documents I decided to show case to demonstrate my improvement
throughout the semester as a writer is my resume and the group charter. Every paragraph will be
include a description why a respective assignment covers the designated SLO.

The first assignment is my Resume, which satisfies the SLOs of organization, persuasion,
and rhetorical focus. I have mastered organization because in my resume managed to present
through a great amount of information in short to the point phrases. This document also
illustrates my mastery of persuasion, by highlighting my specialties, I laid out why I am a good
candidate and what I had to offer for my desired job position, in this cases, the ifixit group
project position. I talk about my ambition, my experience, and what different volunteer work I
have done in the pass. Finally, my resume satisfies the SLO of rhetorical focus by stating its
purpose, audience, message, ethos, and context. My resume addresses specific details to back up
the job I chose to pursue. I incorporated persuasion to convince my audience that I am in fact
ideal for the job with logically organized and relevant details. By presenting a clear unified
message with specific descriptions of my experience and skills, I demonstrate my proficiency in
the rhetorical focus SLO.

The next assignment presented, my group charter, displays my mastery of ethical

citations, language and design, and collaboration, I will point out specific sections where I have
managed to fuse all the SLOs. The references and in text citations of my group charter, is solid
proof that I have mastered ethical citation because every sentence that needed citation had one
and it was done appropriately using the required format for the APA guidelines. This document
shows I have mastered language and design because of the way the paper is formatted. My team
and I created headings and subheadings throughout the assignment that shows our focus for each
section, which guides the reader to the most important sections of the assignment and easier to
understand. My group charter satisfies collaboration. This assignment was worked on as a group,
and through collaboration we created a kind of manual of our ifixit project progress.
 Through mastery of these SLOs, all the activities and assignments I completed in English
360, I honestly feel like a stronger Technical writer, and as a writer in general. Although it is
unlikely I will ever do any other type of replacement guide, being part this class and assignments
I now better understand the techniques of a good writer, I hope you agree with me even a little on
my improvement as I do when reviewing my portfolio. thank you in advance for time and
patience for reading my cover letter, I know I still have many other components to improve but
no improvement is worse some improvement.
