Informative Speech Outline Instructions

Specific Goal: My audience will learn about the five major types of anxiety and be able to understand through
someone elses perspective, as well as finding helpful treatments.

Application: The audience will be able to see the symptoms of anxiety and learn to overcome it, so it does
not impact their or others health.
Ethos: Primary Ethos: I have a type of anxiety that affects me daily.
Secondary Ethos: I will cite three references out loud in my speech.
Pathos: I will be sharing the thoughts that goes through those that suffer from a type of anxiety to get
sympathy from the audience.
Logos: I will define all medical terminology as well as speak about the different treatment recommendations
Audience Assessment: My audience may already know about anxiety, but there is way more information that
gets left behind such as the many different types and the thought process behind it all.
Adaptation to Audience: I will define medical terminology to give a clear description.
Pattern of Organization: Cause and effect in the introduction, Topical in the body.

Introduction.

I. Hook: People need to understand that anxiety is involuntary most times. Quote by
healthyplace.com This is one of the most frustrating things about having an anxiety disorder;
knowing as youre freaking out that theres no reason to be freaked out. But lacking the ability
to shut the emotion down.

II. Thesis: Knowing the different types of anxiety can help you or someone you know understand
what is going on to find possible treatments.

Preview: I will share all the information needed to understand anxiety

A. First, I will talk about what anxiety is in general.


B. Second, I will talk about the five major types of anxiety.
C. Third, I will talk about the treatments.

Transition: Now that Ive given you a preview, lets look at what anxiety is.

III. Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension and
worrying.

Transition: Now lets talks about the different types of anxiety.

IV. The five major types of anxiety include:


1. Generalized Anxiety Disorder
2. OCD
3. Panic Disorder
4. PTSD
5. Social Anxiety
Transition: The good news is that are possible treatments to overcome these disorders.

V. The following treatments include:


1. Self-care
2. Therapies
3. Medications
4. Specialists

Transition: So overall there is always a way to help yourself or someone you know.

VI. If you or someone you know is suffering from a type of anxiety, you should now be able to
understand what they are going through and help them with treatment.

VII. A. Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension
