The journal related to my field that I want to analyze is Contemporary

Educational Psychology. Dr. Miller, the professor that I researched had a publication

modeling latent true scores to determine the utility of aggregate student perceptions

as classroom indicators in HLM: the case of classroom goal structures in it, therefore

I chose this journal to do my analysis (George Mason University, 2017).

This is a journal of psychology, science and educational (Elsevier Inc., 2017).

The types of the published writing are empirical research and presentations of

educational psychology theories that explain and enhance the process of education

(Elsevier Inc., 2017).

Contemporary Educational Psychology is a journal which provides knowledge

and educational theories to the readers, at the same time, it does not limit their

research papers from any group age, it has articles about the education of

preschoolers, children, adults and the elderly (Elsevier Inc., 2017). The purpose of

this journal is that it supplies types of educational psychology theories that can be
used in all the age groups, and contains a great deal of articles that can help readers to

understand the differences of individuals when they were in their learning process

(Elsevier Inc., 2017).

The writer of this journal includes educators, researchers and scholars and

teachers (Elsevier Inc., 2017). This journal is about theories of education and

psychology, so the writers will be the professionals related to the field. The readers of

this journal might also be educators, researchers, scholars, students or others who are

interesting or doing some research on this field.

Contemporary Educational Psychology had clearly stated the requirements of

the publication. First, before the authors begin their writings, they should be aware of

the ethics in publishing, human and animal rights, and the copyrights (Elsevier Inc.,

2017). Second, writers should follow APA style, and the structure of the article

should be as abstract, keywords, introduction, material and methods, results,

discussion, conclusions and references (Elsevier Inc., 2017). Third, after writers

finished their articles, the journal will have a double-blind peer review to choose the

articles that can be published (Elsevier Inc., 2017).

This journal has some special issues, such as understanding academically at-risk

students' learning, motivation, and engagement: focus on ADHD, executive

functioning, and learning disabilities, indigenous issues in education and research:

looking forward, examining innovations-navigating the dynamic complexities of

school-based intervention research (Elsevier Inc., 2017). These special issues

discussed not only education, they also contain other points of view, for instance,

there is a special issue which is about the education of students who had a learning

disability, it also discussed how to measure students disorder and give these students

the most suitable education (Elsevier Inc., 2017).

The impact factor of the journal is 2.877 (Elsevier Inc., 2017). Comparing this

journals impact factor to a general educational psychology journal, Journal of

Educational Psychology had 3.456 as impact factor which is higher from the journal

I choose (American Psychological Association, 2017). But comparing the other

journal which is more specific, for example An International Journal of Experimental

Educational Psychology had 1.31 (Taylor and Francis Online, 2017), and British

Journal of Educational Psychology had 2.403 (Wiley Online Library, 2017). It

shows that this journal is not the most popular one, but it still has many people

reading and citing it.

To my point of view, this journal primarily pays attention on Education, such as

students learning motivation, academic achievement, teachers perceptions and the

education environment. In the recent years, this article tends to publish articles

discussed about special education, which is also an important issue in the field of
Educational Psychology. In conclusion, to write a research paper for a journal, the

first thing is to follow the rules that the journal stated, such as the structure of article,

citation styles or the submission checklist that the journal had provided. Also, using

appropriate reference is important, to be a scholar in the educational psychology field,

it is necessary to do numerous research. Reading previous research and understand

sources can be a good way to find more details to support our work, and help us to

make a better research paper.
