THE FACTORS RELATED TO ADOLESCENCE SMOKING BEHAVIOUR IN
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 UEPAI OF KONAWE REGENCY YEAR 2017

The information was taken by interviewed to 10 students of class 2 who

admitted were smoker knowing that 7 of them are active smokers who come from
smokers family, 3 others say not from smoker family. When asked about the
impact of smoking, amount to 6 people said smoking had negative effects such as
cancer, stroke, asthma and tuberculosis and amount to 4 people said as much less
know what the effects of smoking, they say during smoking they feel fine. This
study aims to determine the factors associated with adolescents smoking behavior
in SMA Negeri 1 Uepai Year 2017
The research include a survey analytic with cross-sectional design. The
research was carried out on May 8th to May 22th 2017. The population in this study
was the total number of male students class XI in SMA N 1 Uepai include class IPA
and IPS amounted to 48 peoples with the number of sample amount to 32
respondent was taken by Proporsional Random Sampling.
The result of this study showed there were a fairly strong relationship
between friends smoking behavior with the adolescence smoking behavior (X2count
= 6.026 > X2table = 3,841 and (Phi) = 0.434), weak relationship between the
families smoking behavior with the adolescence smoking behavior (X2count = 4.441
> X2table = 3,841 and (Phi) = 0.373), weak relationship between the attitude with
the adolescence smoking behavior (X2count = 4.394 > X2table = 3,841 and (Phi) =
0.371).
Therefore, the authors suggest to the Headmaster of SMA Negeri 1 Uepai
that the rules more encouraged again to students who smoke, more socialized
again about the dangers of smoking for students and work with health workers in
health education to students about the dangers of smoking
.
