Many gods influenced the way people view the world and aspects of nature

along with it. In my essay I will demonstrate how Ra the giveroflifeandAnubis

the God of the Afterlife impacted religions and may have paved the way for some

of their beliefs. I will present how Ra is similar to the main attributes of the

Christian God that we know of today . Then overview how Anubis comparestothe

Christian Lucifer also known as the Devil and how both Ra and Anubis compare to

each Regious figure and how their worship is also similar to one another.

Anubis was God of the afterlife and being that the afterlife was such a huge

part of Egyptian society you can understand why he was such an important God

upon the weighing of the heart he was also there he ushered the dead to the

afterlife and he was at one point depicted as theprotectorofgraves.Youcandraw

comparisons between Anubis and Lucifer as they are the rulers of the underworld

or Hell as we know it Anubis is similar to God as he judges people of their sins

instead of Lucifer Guardian of Scales where he dictated the fate of souls (1) that

was Anubiss main job to weigh the human heart against a feather and that's how

they were supposed to be judged.

Ra is considered the creator oftheworldintheEgyptianmythologyapartof

him is also shown in every other god. Similar to the God we know of today in this

sense because we know God as the creatorofeverythingandtheyarebothseenas

all powerful(2).He is the father of the first godly couple Shu and Tefnut which

draws comparisons to Adam and Eve whom God created out of nothing as did Ra

with Shu and Tefnut and from there everything else was made with Adam and Eve

being the first humans and Shu and Tefnut being the first gods besides Ra. If it

wasnt for GodorRathenthingswouldnthavebeenwhattheyarebecausewithout

them nothing would exist and the universe as a hole would not be a thing without

the creators.

Hathor was important in all aspects in Egyptian life and deathasGodisvery

important in life and death as well both these Gods share the fact that they are

extremely important Hathor is considered the second most important god in the

Egyptian Pantheon only behind Ra. God is theonlyGodinChristianitysoheisvery

important for obvious reasons. Hathor is also considered a sky goddess (3)which

God is also considered a skyGodseeingasherulesfromheavenwhichisinthesky

so there are similarities there as well. She was also considered the Mistress of

Heaven (3) and with God being the ruler of heaven you can obviously see more

similarities between the two of them. Even though Ra is considered the most

important God in the Egyptian Pantheon it seemsthatGodhasmoresimilaritiesto

Hathor them any other god in the pantheon.

The way these relate back the world we are in today is we have God in

Judaism, Catholicism,Christianity, etc he created the universe according to their

religions God created everything he created the Sun the Earth etc and since he

created all this he also created the afterlife much like in the weighing of the heart

once you die you get judged on whether or not yougotoheavenorhelldepending

on what you did while you lived. There are many other things that link theancient

Egyptians to the world we have today these arejustsomesmallexamplesthereare

many more examples that can be used linkingancientEgypttotodayssociety. The

way that people praise these gods from the Egyptian pantheon is similar to how

people praise God and Jesus Christ today Priests built large temples in which to

worship but ordinary people had little to do with these ceremonies. Offerings like food or

flowers were made during every ceremony(4). This is very similar to today's society

where we build these huge churches for God like the Vatican. We also bring offerings

not in the forms of food and flowers but in a little paper currency the thing is your not

supposed to have money on church ground but they never complain about it. The thing

about these religions that dont make sense is they all claim to be original but all of them

except for the Egyptian Pantheon copied each other. Im going to be honest its all the
same they just occasionally do things differently than they fight each other about it, its

all kinda ridiculous.

In conclusion we have many things in common with our past even though we

might not think even in religion as shown by the similarities I gave in this essay even

though we are led to believe that they are completely original ideas. This proves that not

everything that we are told is true and we only need to dig a little into the past to see

that we take a lot of things from it. All religions in our culture today have some sort of

influence from the religions of the past we just arent taught that but I think. Its important

to know where these things come from and how they were originally thought up instead

of saying that they had no influences except for the God that told them what they

believe and what we are taught to this day. Ra, Anubis and Hathor all contributed in

some way to modern day religion and there are other examples of other Egyptian gods

that I didn't go over that helped contribute but I feel that these were some of the most

important ones for modern day religion. Anubis with the underworld and how he judges

people on where they go in the afterlife much how like God does. Ra in the sense that

he created everything and he created two people that started everything just like God

did with Adam and Eve just without the apple. Last but not least Hathor is considered

the sky god and the mistress of heaven relating to God living in the sky and ruling over

heaven. Of course there are other gods in the Egyptian pantheon that may have
influenced our culture such as Sobek,Geb, and Khepri. Other ancient cultures

contributed to our culture but Egyptian was definitely the most influential.
