Intensive Speaking (Ten Items)

Grade Level: Third

English 3.1 The student will use effective communication skills in group activities.

what is said.

English 3.2: The student will present brief oral reports using visual media.

Can-Do Descriptors:
Describe pictures of imaginary people, objects or situations.
Describe story elements of various genres supported by illustrations.

Purpose/Objectives: The student will be able to rephrase the given sentences so that the sentence is
grammatically and linguistically correct.

Microskills being measured:


Using grammatical word classes (nouns, verbs, etc.), systems (tense, agreement,
pluralization), word order, patterns, rules, and elliptical forms.
Macroskills being measured:
Appropriately accomplishing communicative functions according to situations, participants,
and goal.

Directions: I will tell you a statement and you will change that statement so that it is
correct when you say it back to me. I will write down your response here. Each correct answer is
worth two points for a total of twenty points.
Example:
Teacher says- Tell me you like rock music.
Student responds- I like rock music.
Scoring: Use the following guidelines to score the students responses.
- Two points: Student identifies the location accurately and forms response as a complete sentence.
- One point: Student identifies the location accurately, but forms response as a fragment.
- Half a Point: Student identifies the location and use no other words in their response.
- Zero points: Student does not speak.
